Patent number: 5601108Abstract: A gas line safety evacuation apparatus and method wherein earthquakes or other hazardous disruptive events are monitored and detected. Upon detection of an earthquake or like event, gas or other fluid lines are evacuated by an evacuation pump, and the evacuated gas is stored in a storage tank for future use. Control valves are activated upon detection of the earthquake to prevent additional gas or fluid from entering the lines.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1995Date of Patent: February 11, 1997Assignees: Scott M. Patent number: 4905084Abstract: High definition television (HDTV) signals are broadcast in a manner to be compatible with television receivers that operate to reproduce standard definition images, and the broadcast HDTV signals are contained within an existing frequency band in the electromagnetic spectrum allocated for transmission of the standard definition images. An image to be broadcast is scanned with a high definition camera capable of producing an image frame of N lines of resolution, wherein N is equal to about twice the line resolution of a standard definition image frame. The camera produces N/2 odd line image signals and N/2 even line image signals for each image frame. The odd line signals are modulated on a radio frequency (RF) carrier wave to produce HDTV odd line image signals occupying at most the same frequency band in the electromagnetic spectrum as occupied by standard definition images.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1989Date of Patent: February 27, 1990Assignee: Carole Broadcasting Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Leo Zucker

Patent number: 4688971Abstract: The invention covers the control of the horizontal position of a reamer cutting tool in relation to a tool-holder pin.A support is surmounted by a core which slides sideways in the pin. The slide is controlled by a screw whose head forms a vernier, while its crown wheel is engaged tangentially by a worm screw. A flange holds the whole mechanism in place horizontally. A locking screw locks the support into position once an angle has been fixed. The invention has the following features: reduction in the overall diameter of the tool; and increase in precision by the suppression of action which would interfere with the precision adjustment and throw it out of tolerance at the moment the device is finally locked into position.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1984Date of Patent: August 25, 1987Assignees: Carole, Outillage R.C.Inventor: Carmona, Jean
