  • Patent number: 5832650
Abstract: A self-righting stabilizing adaptor for a floating waterfowl decoy comprises a relatively wide, flat hollow body, with a central slot extending through a substantial portion of the adaptor for slidingly attaching it to the keel of the decoy. The adaptor effectively lowers the center of gravity of the decoy so that, in the event the decoy is placed onto a body of water upside down, the decoy will tip upright. The adaptor is filled with ballast water flowing through water inlet and outlet orifices on the edges of the adaptor, which stabilize the manner in which the decoy floats on the surface of the water.

  • Patent number: 5207757
Abstract: A self-ballasting waterfowl decoy which is also self-righting includes a floating body in the form of a closed hollow shell representing a waterfowl, a ballast tank attached to the underside of the decoy by a connecting rib, with the elongated hollow tubular ballast tank having at one end an opening below the waterline for the passage of water and at the opposite end an air duct for the escape of air, and includes a long metal tube within the ballast tank. In the event that a decoy tossed out onto a body of water lands on its backside, the metal tube provides just enough weight to tip the decoy upright and thereby providing for a self-righting decoy.

  • Patent number: 5205060
Abstract: A leg attachment assembly for large bird decoys with the main body of the decoy being separable from a leg support structure is disclosed. A rectangular, tab-like insert portion of the leg support structure slidingly fits into a complementary, rectangular sleeve-like opening in the underside of the main body of the decoy. Upward projecting supports extending from the tab-like insert fit snugly around the side edges of the rectangular sleeve-like opening and the supports have angled upper edges which abut upwardly against complementary angled support surfaces to support the decoy in a proper upright position. An angled fastening bar mounts the decoy firmly in the ground.

  • Patent number: 5172507
Abstract: A light weight, inflatable waterfowl decoy is comprised of essentially two isolated chambers, the first being a soft shell main body in the shape of a waterfowl, and the second being an elongated tube-like keel attached to the underside of the decoy. The main body has a resealable air orifice for selectively inflating and collapsing the decoy. The keel has a resealable orifice for selectively inserting or removing a ballast material.
