  • Patent number: 6277650
Abstract: The invention is an improved single-step test device for detecting the presence of a pre-selected analyte in a urine stream. The device includes a hollow rectangular outer casing and an assay material disposed within co-joined upper and lower sections of the casing. The outer casing includes a urine inlet port; a viewing window in the upper section; at least the upper section consisting of transparent material; and may also include at least one drainage vent spaced about the urine inlet port. The assay material is a sorptive material including: a urine sample application region adjacent to, and in fluid communication with the urine inlet port; a capture region adjacent to the viewing window; and a fluid flow path for transporting a liquid sample between the urine sample application region and the analyte capture region. The flow of urine in the fluid path is observable through the transparent upper section for confirming a test is operative.

  • Patent number: 6164122
Abstract: A plurality of test chambers or fixtures are operable for successively testing a plurality of condoms, respectively, in an automated manner. Each test chamber for testing a condom includes a housing containing a porous liner having an interior cavity conformed to the exterior shape of a condom to be tested, whereby a holder carrying the condom is inserted into the liner, a closed pathway for gas flow is provided between a gas port of the holder and the interior volume of the condom, for permitting the condom to be inflated with the gas, causing the exterior walls of the condom to be pushed against opposing inside walls of the liner, permitting gas passing through holes in the condom to flow through pores in walls of the liner to another gas port of the housing for detecting unacceptable holes in the condom using differential pressure techniques and/or gas tagging.

  • Patent number: 6071028
Abstract: An elevator cup configured for vertical sliding movement and for retaining a portion of a solid stick-form product within a dispensing container. The dispensing container has an internal surface, an open top end, a closed bottom end, and means for selectively reciprocally moving the elevator cup in a piston-like manner between a retracted position adjacent the closed bottom end and a fully advanced position adjacent the open top end. The elevator cup includes a horizontal base with top and bottom portions. The top portion is configured for retaining an end portion of the stick-form product. A ductile flange extends along a perimeter of the base for sealing against the internal surface of the container to prevent seepage of liquid product and product volatiles, and to substantially absorb and distribute shock associated with handling of the container, away from the product.
