  • Publication number: 20080048064
Abstract: A system and a method discriminates a roll placed in a paper roll dispenser, as well as a paper roll with a core having at least one passive electrically conductive element, to be used in conjunction with the dispenser. The system includes a probe sensitive to a presence of an electrically conductive element in proximity thereof, the probe being located within the paper roll dispenser such that when the roll is positioned within the dispenser, the probe is in proximity of the roll. The system also includes an application for applying an input signal to the probe, a detector for detecting an output signal from the probe, the output signal being indicative of a presence of the electrically conductive element proximate the probe, and a discriminator for discriminating the paper roll based on a value of the output signal detected by the detector.

  • Publication number: 20070075180
Abstract: The invention provides a paper roll, a bushing for a paper roll and a combination of a paper roll with a dispenser. The paper roll comprises a hollow paper roll core with two opposite extremities. The bushing has a cylindrical body press-fitted into at least one of the extremities of the paper roll core and the bushing further comprises a circular end wall frangibly fixed to a first end of the body and closing the extremity of the paper roll core. The end wall is provided with a central pin-receiving hole. The end wall is designed to breaks off when removing the paper roll from the dispenser. Thus, the bushing cannot be reused. Therefore, this invention participates in the enhancement of a quality control system.

  • Patent number: 6997372
Abstract: There is disclosed a blank for forming a wrap-around carrier sleeve comprising a plurality of panels connected end to end, including first and second end panels at opposite ends of the blank configured to overlap and cooperate to form a bottom of the sleeve. The first end panel includes at least one retainer flap struck from the panel. The second end panel includes at least one male supporting tab connected to the second panel. Each male supporting tab has a notch formed along one side, the notch being sufficiently offset from the fold line in the neck so that, when the second panel overlaps the first panel and the male supporting tab extends through an opening formed by the retainer flap in the first panel, the notch in the male supporting tab lockingly engages a raised edge of the retainer flap.
