  • Patent number: 5949091
Abstract: In the crystal structure of a polysilicon thin film having a field effect mobility .mu..sub.FE of about 80 cm.sup.2 /V.multidot.sec, a grain size is about 200 nm and a crystallite size on the (111) plane is about 180 nm. The crystal size corresponds to the size of a completely monocrystallized portion of a grain. The condition of obtaining a field effect mobility .mu..sub.FE of about 80 cm.sup.2 /V.multidot.sec is that the crystallite size on the (111) plane is at least 180 nm (measured value). By taking the crystallite size into consideration, it becomes possible to achieve a high field effect mobility .mu..sub.FE which cannot be obtained merely by increasing the grain size.

  • Patent number: 5946274
Abstract: When an inclination switch SW3 is turned on by inclining a wristwatch 12 up at 12 o'clock within a predetermined time after an acceleration switch SW2 is turned on in a state where an auto mode on/off subswitch SW1-1 is on, a lighting circuit lights up an electroluminescence panel EL and puts off same automatically after a predetermined time has passed. If the auto mode subswitch SW1-1 is off, there is no possibility that the panel EL will be lighted up even when the user makes a motion to look at the time displayed on the wristwatch. As a result, the panel EL is not recklessly lighted up excluding by the user's intended motion, useless power consumption is suppressed to prolong the life of a battery used.

  • Patent number: 5936914
Abstract: In an electronic appliance equipped with a light emitting apparatus 30, a transparent sheet member 31 having a character, a pattern or other symbols is arranged on a front surface of a transmission type flat-shaped light emitting apparatus 32. A colored sheet member 33 is arranged behind this light emitting apparatus. Openings 21 are formed in the colored sheet member 31, the light emitting apparatus 32, and the transparent sheet member 33. These openings are communicated therethrough. A pointer shaft 19 and 20 of a gear train mechanism 17 for indicating a present time is penetrated through the openings. Hands 22 and 23 are rotatably driven above the transparent sheet member 31. When the light emitting apparatus 32 is turned OFF, the colored sheet member 33 can be observed through the transparent sheet member 31 and the transparent light emitting apparatus 32. • Patent number: 5936693
Abstract: An underlying electrode is formed on nearly the entire surface of an opposing substrate and a color filter is formed on the underlying electrode. An overcoat layer is formed on the color filter. A stripe-shaped overlying electrode connected to the underlying electrode and extending to a part of each pixel area is formed on the overcoat layer, and an alignment film is formed on the overlying electrode. Formed on a TFT substrate are TFT's, pixel electrodes and another alignment film which covers the TFT's and pixel electrodes. A liquid crystal is provided between both substrates. When a drive voltage is applied between the underlying electrode and the pixel electrodes, the drive voltage is applied almost directly to the liquid crystal between the overlying electrode and the pixel electrodes, and a drive voltage dropped by the color filter and overcoat layer is applied to the liquid crystal between the underlying electrode and the pixel electrodes.

  • Patent number: 5933152
Abstract: In an image display device, a ROM contains a plurality of image data indicative of the actions of an animal character. A RAM includes a plurality of action level registers each of which stores for each image data the state of inputs given to select and display the image data. The user gives a command corresponding to a respective image of an animal character to select and display the action of the animal character optionally. When a random number corresponding to the command is generated, image data which does not correspond to the input command can be displayed. If the generated random number has a particular value, the value of an action level register for the image data corresponding to the command is updated. Such operation is iterated and thus the value of the action level register is updated.

  • Patent number: 5928364
Abstract: This invention relates a secret data storage device capable of setting password data which is easy for a specific user to memorize but is difficult for others to understand. A registration password data item composed of an arbitrary hieroglyphic data item or a combination of an arbitrary hieroglyphic data item and the color specifying data corresponding to the hieroglyphic is entered by selectively operating the hieroglyphic key 12b and color key 12d in the key input section 12. Similarly, using the color specifying data item and the like, a collation password data item is inputted. Then, it is determined whether or not the registration password data item coincides with the collation password data item entered this time. When it has been determined that they coincide with each other, the secret data stored in the secret data memory 17d is accessed and the accessed data appears on the display section 19.

  • Patent number: 5930372
Abstract: A communication terminal device carries out data processing based on key or touch panel operations and provides a telephone conversation function. When a key is actuated, a key input confirmation sound is generated. When data input is performed on the touch panel with a pen, a pen impact sound caused by striking the touch panel with the pen and a pen frictional sound caused by rubbing the touch panel with the pen are generated. In the telephone conversation mode, the key input confirmation sound, the pen impact sound, and the pen frictional sound are picked up as noises by the microphone. Upon detecting such noises, the communication terminal device generates noise canceling signals corresponding to the respective noises and cancels each noise from a voice signal input from the microphone. Thus, a voice signal free from noises is transmitted.

  • Patent number: 5926198
Abstract: In a color image printing apparatus, image data is printed on a recording paper by using a thermal printing head through ink ribbons constructed of cyan, magenta, and yellow-colored ribbons. A single pixel of the image data is formed by a preselected dot number of areas. Within this area, the cyan, magenta, and yellow colors are printed out by dot numbers corresponding to density data of the respective colors. The cyan color data is printed out in such a way that while the density data thereof is increased, the dot number is successively increased from a predetermined printing position within this area. The magenta and yellow color data are printed out in such a manner that while the density data thereof are increased, the dot numbers are successively increased from different printing positions other than the above-described cyan printing position.
