  • Publication number: 20140224385
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a turbocharger component for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The method may include introducing a material into a mold, wherein the material includes at least one added alloying element. The method may further include applying a pressure to the material, and solidifying the material by cooling the material at a cooling rate, wherein the solidifying preserves an amount of the at least one added alloying element in solid solution in the material. The method may also include forming precipitates within the material by aging the material at an aging temperature.

  • Publication number: 20130261870
Abstract: An autonomous machine control system includes a positioning unit measuring position and orientation, and a navigation unit storing a route plan including an intended travel path along a lane. The lane has a width defined by a left-hand boundary and a right-hand boundary. The navigation unit receives an uncertainty value associated with the position or orientation, and creates a virtual two-dimensional footprint based on an actual machine footprint and the uncertainty value. The navigation unit also simulates movement of the virtual footprint along the intended travel path, calculates a left-hand margin value defined by the virtual footprint and the left-hand boundary, and calculates a right-hand margin value defined by the virtual footprint and the right-hand boundary. The margin values are compared to a predetermined value, and speed or travel direction of the machine is controlled if either of the margin values is below the predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20130190996
Abstract: A machine includes a plurality of torque consuming devices drivingly coupled with an internal combustion engine. The plurality of torque consuming devices includes a continuously variable transmission coupling the internal combustion engine with a plurality of ground engaging elements. An electronic controller is in communication with the internal combustion engine and the plurality of torque consuming devices and is configured to execute a torque load control algorithm for generating a torque load limit based, at least in part, on an engine underspeed value. The electronic controller identifies a potential engine stall event during which a current engine speed of the internal combustion engine drops below the engine underspeed value by a predetermined amount, and executes a transient torque load control algorithm to adjust the torque load limit responsive to the identification of the potential engine stall event.

  • Patent number: H1821
Abstract: A method of operating a driver and an associated number of work tools includes the step of securing a first work tool to the driver. The first work tool has a first identification device attached thereto. The method also includes the step of determining a first identification value associated with the first identification device and generating a first identification signal in response thereto. The method further includes the step of operating the driver so as to produce a first mechanical output based on the first identification signal. Moreover, the method includes the step of removing the first work tool from the driver and securing a second work tool to the driver. The second work tool has a second identification device attached thereto. The method also includes the step of determining a second identification value associated with the second identification device and generating a second identification signal in response thereto.
