  • Patent number: 4469549
Abstract: Heat seal apparatus is disclosed which comprises a heater unit having a heater therein and a roller insertable in and removable from the heater unit. The roller, when in the heater unit, is in heat transfer relation with the heater so as to be heated to a predetermined temperature level. When the roller is removed for application on a package for heat sealing purposes, the heat stored in the roller performs the heat sealing function thus obviating the need for a heater located within the roller and for a power cord connected to the roller. The roller is a sealed, hollow tube filled with a suitable heat storage medium, such as paraffin or another low vapor pressure, high heat capacity compound, so as to ensure sufficient heat capacity in the roller for heat sealing purposes, to ensure uniform roller temperatures, and to require only a localized contact with the heater for substantially uniformly heating the roller.

  • Patent number: 4238065
Abstract: In a film material dispenser, generally formed from paperboard, and formed having front, back and bottom panels that are foldably connected together, a top panel also foldably connected to the back panel, and is capable of being opened or closed as desired; a slot is provided through the top panel for dispensing of the leading edge of the film material therethrough, and a front flap, foldable in half, and having a cutting edge provided at its forwardmost edge, is insertable contiguously against the inner surface of the front panel, while one of the front flap folded parts extends the cutting edge upwardly for use in severing of the film material during dispensing.

  • Patent number: 4198560
Abstract: A walking beam shrink tunnel apparatus for sealing plastic film wrapped on an article, as the article is transported through a heat tunnel surrounding a portion of a walking beam type conveyor, a pair of heating elements located upwardly of the heat tunnel, and being adjustably set through temperature control means for regulating the radiant heat emanating from the elements, heat seals the film wrapped article; the walking beam type conveyor comprising alternately arranged stationary and walking beams, the latter being movably supported upon a base that operates to shift the walking beams in a substantially elliptical pattern for affecting movement of the film wrapped articles along the conveyor and through the arranged heat tunnel.
