Abstract: In a method of stripping and removing shielding from a cable, an end of the cable is stripped from an outer insulating sheath to expose a portion of the shielding which envelopes an inner electrical conductor. The exposed shielding portion is compressed in axial direction of the cable to so deform the shielding portion as to assume a donut shape which exceeds an outer dimension of the insulating sheath. A cutting unit is movable approximately transversely to a longitudinal orientation of the cable to shear off a circular section of the shielding portion.
