Patent number: 6039212Abstract: An aerosol dispenser includes a housing adapted to accommodate an aerosol container. A spray mechanism communicates with the aerosol container and is actuable to dispense an aerosol spray of material from the aerosol container. A controller actuates the spray mechanism to effect dispensing of the aerosol material. A remote unit is provided to establish a wireless communication link with the controller.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventor: Jaswinder Singh

Patent number: 5653473Abstract: A label includes two pressure-sensitive composites which are laminated together to provide a multiple label construction. The label can be affixed to a surface and still have a top composite removable at a later time to provide a fully pressure-sensitive label which can be reapplied to another surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1995Date of Patent: August 5, 1997Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventors: Henry A. Laszutko, Ian J. Dick

Patent number: 5489047Abstract: An aerosol spray can and selectively-operable valve mechanism for dispensing the contents of the can to an environment are assembled to one another in operable relation using an adaptor structure which comprises an element snap-fit mounted to the aerosol can and a further element snap-fit mounted or otherwise affixed to the valve mechanism. The elements are provided with mating screw threads, which permit the assembly to be readily and securely effected. The adaptor elements are moulded parts constructed to be resiliently flexible to a degree to assist in mounting and demounting from the element to which it is to be attached and yet to resist such flexure when assembled together.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1994Date of Patent: February 6, 1996Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventor: Gary C. Winder

Patent number: 5169037Abstract: A product dispenser includes a unique product bag/valve configuration. The product is stored in the product bag. Pressure in the container surrounding the bag determines the dispensing pressure. The valve has a valve extender with a unique shape to enhance sealing the valve to the bag. The product bag includes a gusset along a bottom portion. The gusset opens when product is introduced into the bag. The gusset supports the bag when in contact with a bottom dome shaped portion of the container.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1991Date of Patent: December 8, 1992Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventors: Robert J. Davies, Patrick J. Gleeson, Michael J. Moran

Patent number: 5137186Abstract: A dispenser contains a product containing bag and a system for generating a dispensing pressure in a chamber created by the space between the product containing bag and the walls of the dispenser. The act of filling the product bag with product to be dispensed establishes an initial dispensing pressure. A pressure regulator in the chamber re-establishes the dispensing pressure after each spray down. The pressure regulator contains a gas and liquid reactant separated from one another and provided in a ratio approximately the same as that of the space within the dispensing container to that of product contained therein.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1991Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventor: Michael J. Moran

Patent number: 5040704Abstract: A dispenser contains a productivity bag and a system for generating a dispensing pressure in a chamber created by the space between the product bag and the walls of the dispenser. The act of filling the product bag with product establishes an initial dispensing pressure. A pressure regulator in the chamber re-establishes the dispensing pressure after each spray down.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1990Date of Patent: August 20, 1991Assignee: CCL Industries, Inc.Inventor: Michael J. Patent number: 5035351Abstract: An apparatus reestablishes an initial dispensing pressure after each spray down or dispensing of product. A hollow member contains a gas and a liquid reactant. The member has a walled portion with a gas permeable opening. At a pressure equilibrium, where the pressure inside the member equals that outside of the member, substantially no gas or liquid passes in or out of the member through the opening. When product is dispensed the pressure outside of the tube decreases. With this pressure differential the gas in the member forces the liquid reactant out of the tube and into the surrounding environment. A second reactant, disposed outside of the member, mixes with the first reactant to regenerate a pressure outside of the tube, thereby reestablishing an initial dispensing pressure.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1990Date of Patent: July 30, 1991Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventor: Michael J. Moran

Patent number: 4872491Abstract: A system is described for changing over propellant feeds to an aerosol can filling operation and for servicing filling heads without venting propellant to atmosphere. Instead, the propellant is collected in a scrap salvage tank.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1988Date of Patent: October 10, 1989Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventors: Barry E. Nickason, Orazio DiGirolamo

Patent number: 4450253Abstract: A single phase propellant solvent solution comprising dimethyl ether, water, water-soluble polar organic solvents, preferably mixtures of aliphatic alcohol and water-soluble polar organic slow drying coalescing solvent, is used to provide non-flammable aerosol water-based paint compositions. Water-solubilized oil-modified film-forming polymers are dissolved in the propellant-solvent solution and are readily dispersed from an aerosol container onto a substrate surface to form a water-resistant and durable film thereon upon air drying.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1982Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Assignee: CCL Industries Inc.Inventor: Albert Suk
