Patent number: 6932289Abstract: A jaw crusher having a dynamically adjustable tramp iron relief system is disclosed. A moveable jaw and a stationary jaw define a crushing chamber, with a lower portion of the moveable jaw cooperating with a lower portion of the stationary jaw to define a closed side setting gap. A hydraulic tramp iron relief system operatively connects at least one of the jaws to the frame and is arranged to permit uncrushable material to pass through the crushing chamber by permitting the lower portion of the jaw to shift to a shifted position in which the gap is increased. The tramp iron relief system includes an adjustable hydraulic cylinder, the hydraulic cylinder arranged to permit the gap to be adjusted during operation of the crusher.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2002Date of Patent: August 23, 2005Assignee: Cedarapids, Inc.Inventor: Joseph E. Patent number: 6845933Abstract: A retaining wedge assembly for securing an impeller bar to the rotor of a horizontal shaft impact crusher comprises a recess defined in the rotor and sized to receive the impeller bar. The recess includes a first seat shaped to engage a first portion of the impeller bar and a second seat. A retaining wedge includes a first portion adapted to engage a second portion of the impeller bar, and a second portion sized to engage the second seat. A countersunk slot on the second seat receives the retaining wedge, which in turn cooperates to secure the impeller bar in the recess. Patent number: 6554215Abstract: A table assembly for a vertical shaft impact crusher includes an impeller having rods embedded vertically in it next to its leading edge. The rods are made from a material which is harder than the material that the body of the impeller is made from. The rods are located where wear is most prevalent. In most situations this would be at both sides of the impeller, but it might be at the center as well. The top surface of the table between impellers is covered with bottom wear plates. The bottom wear plates have raised portions immediately adjacent to the leading edge of the impellers and sloped ramps between the raised portions and the rest of the wear plates.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2000Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Cedarapids Inc.Inventors: Michael E. Patent number: 6375386Abstract: An asphalt paver having a remixing conveyor system that is adapted to substantially or entirely eliminating segregation in hot mix asphalt material delivered to the asphalt paver. The remixing conveying system includes at least one pair of parallelly spaced, oppositely pitched, counter-rotating hydraulically driven feed augers having remixing blades that intermittently displace portions of the hot mix asphalt material generally transversely to the direction that the feed augers convey the hot mix asphalt material from a hopper of the asphalt paver to spreading augers near the rear of the machine. Elongate members over the feed augers provide protection from impact forces and overloading and enhancing lateral extraction of hot mix asphalt material from the hopper. An optional feed screen provides flow control of the hot mix asphalt material in the hopper. A kit is provided for converting existing asphalt paving machines to have desegregating capability.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2000Date of Patent: April 23, 2002Assignee: Cedarapids, Inc.Inventors: Charles G. Patent number: 6155507Abstract: A device for securing the stationary jaw to the frame of a jaw crusher is disclosed. The device includes a crusher frame having top and bottom spaced apart cross members, a stationary jaw, and a threaded draw rod having a pair of inwardly moveable wedge members. The stationary jaw includes a top edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of interconnecting sides, and further includes a top lug adjacent the top edge and a bottom lug adjacent the bottom edge. The top lug is adapted for placement adjacent the frame top cross member, and the bottom lug is adapted for placement adjacent the frame bottom cross member. The draw rod is disposed such that the wedge members are positioned to engage the jaw top lug and the frame top cross member. Accordingly, in response to inward movement of the wedge members, the stationary jaw is progressively more firmly secured to the frame, thereby preventing undesired movement of the stationary jaw during operation of the crusher.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1999Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Cedarapids, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 6149086Abstract: An improved vertical shaft impact crusher, and in particular a crusher having a shoe assembly attached to a rotatable table assembly, the shoe assembly comprising a bracket, a shoe, and mounting bolts for removably attaching the shoe to the bracket. The shoe has a contact surface which engages a support surface of the bracket to reduce shear forces in the mounting bolts during rotation of the table assembly. The crusher also has a liner for protecting an outside face of the bracket. The liner has spacers located on a mounting surface which create a gap between the liner and the bracket, thereby reducing a prying action caused by uneven deflections in the mounting bracket during rotation of the table assembly.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1999Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Cedarapids, Inc.Inventors: Gregory A. Patent number: 6146007Abstract: An asphalt plant including a plurality of asphalt processing components, with a selected first set of the components producing volatile emissions and a selected second set requiring process heat energy. A central burner assembly is connected to the selected second set of components by an insulated duct system for providing heat energy to the second component set. A first duct system is adapted to capture a portion of the volatile emissions produced by the first component set and convey the captured emissions into the central burner for mitigation. The central burner is preferably a media burner incorporating flameless combustion technology as well as an adjustable internal fuel injection system, which results in safer and more controllable combustion. Even with captured fugitive emissions in the inlet air, the fuel injection system keeps the concentration of combustible materials well below the lower flammability limit.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1998Date of Patent: November 14, 2000Assignee: Cedarapids Inc.Inventors: Martin L. Stimson, Joseph E. Musil

Patent number: 6115644Abstract: A moisture content measuring apparatus and method wherein a sensor station produces calibration data corresponding to measurements of light at two different wavelengths reflected from a material, and the calibration data is then transferred to a hand held computer. The moisture content of a sample of the material is measured and input to the hand held computer. The process is repeated after changing the wetness of the material, and the hand held computer creates a table correlating reflection data to moisture content. The table is transferred to the sensor station which then continuously generates signals representing moisture content in response to real time reflection data and the table. The cost effectiveness of the sensor stations readily facilitates the use of a dedicated sensor station at each of a plurality of conveyors carrying different materials to be combined into a composite of predetermined proportions by weight.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1994Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Cedarapids, Inc.,Inventors: J.
