Publication number: 20070157777Abstract: A gripper which can hold the adhesive tape between its branches is mounted on a chain driven in a loop. In a gripping area at the start of the outgoing portion, the gripper is closed around the adhesive tape unwound from the reel. The gripper which is kept closed is then moved along the outgoing portion, thus pulling the adhesive tape up to a release area where it is stopped. The adhesive tape is then cut across by a cutting system designed to hold the adhesive tape on both the upstream and the downstream sides. The gripper is then opened, and the cut piece is transferred to a user station. The gripper is then returned to the gripping area by driving the chain.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2006Publication date: July 12, 2007Applicant: CEFMAInventor: Pierre Talou

Patent number: 7191576Abstract: A device for making it possible to apply to a pack, moved along a conveyor, a handle (n) of nominal length L situated at the end of a tape. The tape includes a succession of handles (n+i), each handle comprising two adhesive ends and a central part. The device includes a feeder to move the tape as far as a rotary application arm having a length which is equal to the nominal length L. This arm is able to deposit one adhesive end of the handle n on one face of the pack and then the second end of the handle n on a second face of the pack. The device further includes an optical cell for detecting an offset in the position of a handle n+i, an actuator for elongating the length of the rotary arm beyond the nominal length L, making it possible during a rotation of this arm to draw a portion of tape having a length greater than the nominal length, and a control unit.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2005Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: CefmaInventor: Pierre Talou

Publication number: 20050274087Abstract: This device making it possible to apply to a pack (3), moved along a conveyor (2), a handle n of nominal length L situated at the end of a tape (7) comprises a succession of handles (n+i), each handle comprising two adhesive ends and a central part, the device comprising means for feeding the tape (7) as far as a rotary application arm having a length which is equal to the nominal length L, this arm being able to deposit one adhesive end of the handle n on one face of the pack (3) and then the second end of the handle n on a second face of the pack (3) during a 180° rotation of the arm (18) which is synchronous with the advancing movement of the pack (3) on the conveyor (2).Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2005Publication date: December 15, 2005Applicant: CEFMAInventor: Pierre Talou

Patent number: 6923235Abstract: This device comprises a support for a spool (9) of adhesive tape (10) and two spaced drive means (A and B), of the belt or chain type, describing an endless trajectory whilst passing over a drive wheel (14 or 15) and at least one idler wheel (16 or 17), this trajectory being such that during it the adhesive face (10a) of the tape (10) is pressed against the portions (12a or 13a) of these means, and a common electric motor (20) imparts the same motion to the two portions (12a, 13a). According to the invention, these two drive means (A and B) are disposed in such a way that the active portion (12a, 13a) has an edge (12b, 13b) disposed substantially in the same plane as that of the juxtaposed portion, this plane being parallel and merged with that of the tape, these two active portions (12a, 13a) being spaced from each other by a distance less than the width of the adhesive tape (10) such that their edges (12b, 13b) cooperate with the longitudinal borders of said tape.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2002Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignee: CEFMAInventor: Cyriaque Petitjean

Patent number: 6234230Abstract: A device that continuously applies self-adhesive handles to moving articles using a pivotable paddle that can rotate approximately 180 degrees from a vertical stopped position. The rotation of the paddle is synchronized with the movement of the articles so that an adhesive tape can be applied to a moving article by placing a first end of the tape on a downstream face of the article, and a second end of the tape is applied to an upstream face of the article, thereby forming a handle on the article. Clamps are used to temporarily connect the paddle to the tape as well as pull the tape while a knife is used for cutting the tape.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 1999Date of Patent: May 22, 2001Assignee: Cefma CompanyInventor: Cyriaque Petitjean
