Abstract: This invention is directed to novel urea derivatives of the general formula ##STR1## wherein A represents one of the groups ##STR2## X and Y, which may be identical to or different from each other, each represent hydrogen, chlorine or bromine;Z represents hydrogen or chlorine;Z' represents chlorine or fluorine; andZ" represents hydrogen, chlorine, or fluorine.The invention is also directed to the production of compounds of Formula I, their use as pesticides, and pesticidal agents comprising the novel compounds as active substances.

Abstract: An improved process for the preparation of 3,6-dichlorosalicylic acid by carboxylation of potassium 2,5-dichlorophenolate with carbon dioxide in xylene at elevated pressure, where the improvement consists of adding finely powdered, anhydrous potassium carbonate to the reaction mixture, whereby the yield of 3,6-dichloro-salicylic acid is significantly increased.

Abstract: An improved method of preparing 2-methoxy-3,6-dichloro-benzoic acid which comprises the step of oxidizing 2-methoxy-3,6-dichloro-benzyl alcohol into the correspondingly substituted benzoic acid, where the improvement resides in that the said benzyl alcohol is prepared by catalytically de-brominating 2-hydroxy-5-bromo-3,6-dichloro-benzyl alcohol, followed by methylation of the 2-hydroxy substituent of the de-brominated benzyl alcohol.
