  • Patent number: 9014665
Abstract: A method for communication includes generating one or more data streams for transmission to respective target receivers, and one or more jamming streams. At least one parameter, selected from a group of parameters consisting of power ratios for allocation to the jamming streams and Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCSs) for assigning to the data streams, is calculated based on a criterion that is set to reduce a probability of the data streams being decoded by at least one eavesdropping receiver. The data streams and the jamming streams are transmitted using an antenna array while applying the at least one parameter.

  • Publication number: 20140355532
Abstract: A method includes, in a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) device, communicating on a given communication channel using one or more primary transmission/reception (TX/RX) chains. Concurrently with communicating on the given communication channel using the primary TX/RX chains, signal activity is evaluated on one or more alternative communication channels using an auxiliary reception (RX) chain whose hardware is partially shared with one of the primary TX/RX chains.

  • Publication number: 20140286328
Abstract: A method includes operating a communication system (20) that includes a wireless access point (AP—24) and multiple wireless stations (STAs—28), including at least a first STA that is connected to a first endpoint (36) and a second STA that is connected to a second endpoint (36). A communication packet is transferred from the first endpoint to the second endpoint by transmitting the packet from the first STA to the second STA, not via the AP, using an addressing scheme that specifies in the packet respective layer-2 addresses of the first and second STAs but not of the first and second endpoints. In the second STA, the layer-2 address of the second endpoint is resolved, the resolved layer-2 address is inserted into the packet and the packet is forwarded to the second endpoint using the inserted layer-2 address.

  • Publication number: 20140269554
Abstract: A method for communication includes, in a communication device that includes a plurality of transmission/reception (TX/RX) chains, each including a respective TX chain and a respective RX chain coupled to a respective antenna, transmitting a calibration signal via one or more TX chains and receiving the transmitted calibration signal via one or more RX chains. Calibration coefficients, which are indicative of offsets in response between the TX chains and the corresponding RX chains, are computed based on the received calibration signal. A self-calibrated beamformed signal is generated using the calibration coefficients. The self-calibrated beamformed signal is transmitted via the TX chains to a remote communication device.

  • Patent number: 8548461
Abstract: A method for communication includes communicating between a first transceiver and a wireless communication terminal on a first channel, while identifying the first transceiver to the terminal with a transceiver identity. A roaming condition, which determines whether the terminal is to roam to a second transceiver operating on a second channel, is evaluated. Upon meeting the roaming condition, the terminal is instructed to switch to the second channel, and the terminal is subsequently communicated with using the second transceiver on the second channel while identifying the second transceiver to the terminal with the same transceiver identity as the first transceiver.

  • Publication number: 20130034003
Abstract: A method in a receiver includes receiving from a transmitter a request to provide channel feedback relating to a communication channel between the transmitter and the receiver. A maximum latency after which the channel feedback is expected by the transmitter is assessed. A spectral resolution with which to calculate the channel feedback is selected based on the assessed maximum latency. The channel feedback is calculated with the selected spectral resolution, and the calculated channel feedback is sent to the transmitter within the maximum latency.

  • Publication number: 20120163356
Abstract: A method for communication includes, in a first communication station, receiving from a second communication station via multiple antennas an input signal having a spectrum that occupies an initial set of spectral bins. An extended set of the spectral bins, which includes the initial set and one or more additional spectral bins, is defined. Based on the received input signal, respective beam steering matrices are computed for the spectral bins in the extended set, including the additional spectral bins. The output signal is generated over the extended set of the spectral bins, including the additional spectral bins, using the respective beam steering matrices. The output signal is transmitted from the first communication station via the multiple antennas.
