  • Patent number: 10686723
Abstract: A method for determining a Quality of Service (QoS) policy can be based on requested bandwidth. The method may initially receive a connection request which includes a requested bandwidth that corresponds to an application. The method may then determine a policy for an application data flow associated with the application based on the connection request. A bandwidth designation, which is based on the requested bandwidth, may be assigned to the application data flow based on the determined policy. Finally, the policy and the bandwidth designation may be provided so that a bearer can be assigned.

  • Patent number: 9996550
Abstract: A server may be configured to receive behavior information associated with a user device. The behavior information may indicate a set of geographical locations at which the user device has been present. The server may generate a mode based on the behavior information. The mode may indicate a set of conditions based on which the mode is to be activated, and a set of information to be presented when the mode is activated. The server may output the mode to the user device. The user device may determine, after receiving the mode, that the set of conditions has been satisfied. The determining may be based on a geographical location of the user device. The user device may activate the mode, based on determining that the set of conditions has been satisfied; and may present at least a portion of the set of information, based on activating the mode.

  • Patent number: 9973038
Abstract: A charging system may include a charging apparatus having a controller and a power transmitter. The controller may be configured to determine a device position relative to the controller based on at least one signal received from the device. The controller may also be configured to determine whether the device position is at an optimal position, and provide feedback indicative of the device position.

  • Patent number: 9572748
Abstract: A container includes a chamber to hold a medication, a lockable lid that covers an opening of the chamber, a biometric sensor, a scale, and one or more processors. The container may store prescription information indicating how often the medication should be provided. The container may measure a weight of the medication held by the chamber using the scale. The container may receive biometric information sensed by the biometric sensor. The biometric information may indicate a biometric feature of a person attempting to open the container. The container may selectively unlock the lockable lid based on at least one of the prescription information, the weight of the medication, or the biometric information.

  • Patent number: 9265067
Abstract: A device receives a pilot channel from an access network, without connecting to the access network. The pilot channel includes information identifying an actual usage associated with the access network. The device determines whether the actual usage of the access network is greater than a particular usage associated with the access network, and selectively connects to the access network based on whether the actual usage of the access network is greater than the particular usage. The device connects to the access network, to provide data to a core network, when the actual usage of the access network is not greater than the particular usage. The device does not connect to the access network when the actual usage of the access network is greater than the particular usage.

  • Patent number: 8805456
Abstract: A wide area communication system includes a mobile communication device and an inductive charging base that charges the battery of the wireless mobile communication device through inductive coupling. The inductive charging base may receive data from the wireless mobile communication device via a short range wireless communication link while the wireless mobile communication device is charging using the inductive charging base. One or more applications stored on the wireless mobile communication device can be automatically activated and data can be sent from the wireless mobile communication device to the inductive charging base via the short range wireless communication link, only while the wireless mobile communication device is Bluetooth paired with the inductive charging base and there is inductive coupling between the inductive charging base and the wireless mobile communication device.

  • Publication number: 20140119206
Abstract: A user device may: receive, from a network device, timeslot information and a first timing advance value. The first timing advance value may be used by the user device to send a data block to the first network device in accordance with the timeslot information. The user device may further: determine a first distance corresponding to a distance between the user device and the network device; determine a change in position of the user device; determine a second distance based on the change in position of the user device; and determine a second timing advance value based on the first timing advance value, the first distance, and the second distance. The second timing advance value may be used by the user device to send the data block to the network device in accordance with the timeslot information.

  • Patent number: 8432853
Abstract: An apparatus for system selection includes a processing element. The processing element may be configured to commence a search for a network service system, determine whether a real-time application is active, and select a network service system in response to a determination that the real-time application is active according to a preference order that is different than an order of preference for network service systems for use if the real-time application is not active.
