Patent number: 9338736Abstract: Improved systems and techniques for controlling access to network resources. A base station broadcasts extended access barring (EAB) and access class barring (ACB) information. Upon a determination by a user equipment that the user equipment requires service from the base station, the user equipment determines its EAB category and call type. The user equipment receives the EAB and ACB information broadcast by the base station and determines if it is subject to EAB based on its EAB category. If the user equipment is not subject to EAB, the user equipment determines if its call type is subject to ACB and, if the call type is subject to ACB, applies access class barring based on its call type.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2015Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: CELLULAR COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT LLCInventors: Yi Zhang, Robert Zaus, Woonhee Hwang, Lei Du, Devaki Chandramouli

Patent number: 9313008Abstract: An allocation of downlink resources is received, which are monitored on l layers for data. A resource-specific bit (ACK/NACK) is generated for each of those resources. From a pattern of those resources is selected an algorithm from among a first algorithm that bundles them in a first mode and a second algorithm that bundles them in a second mode. The selected algorithm is used on the generated resource-specific bits that correspond to the downlink resources, bundled according to the selected mode, to generate l reply bits which are then transmitted. At the network side a NACK reply bit is received, based on a pattern of the allocated downlink resources, a first algorithm that bundles them in a first mode or a second algorithm that bundles them in a second mode is selected. A bundling window and layer combination are determined from the selected algorithm, which gives the resource for retransmitting the NACK'd data.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2014Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: CELLULAR COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT LLCInventors: Frank Frederiksen, Troels E. Patent number: 9294233Abstract: A decoding method for decoding information content in at least one data packet, which is transmitted from a sender to a receiver via a data link. The information is represented by a bit sequence, which is transformed into a transmittable redundancy version. The information is initially transmitted for a first time in a first data packet from the sender to the receiver. The information is represented by a first redundancy version, which is self-decodable. An incorrect receipt is confirmed by sending a confirmation from the receiver to the sender. The information is retransmitted at least a second time in a second data packet from the sender to the receiver upon receipt of the confirmation, wherein, for representation of the information, a second redundancy version is used, the selection of which is performed in dependence on a coding parameter, describing whether the redundancy version is self-decodable or not.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2015Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Cellular Communications Equipment LLCInventors: Juergen Michel, Bernhard Raaf

Patent number: 9220014Abstract: A user equipment receives from a network a transmitted (broadcast) access mode indicator that indicates whether a close subscriber group CSG network is being operated as open or close, and if it indicates open a user equipment UE that is not a registered member of the CSG is allowed access to the close subscriber group network as a guest member. The CSG network can provide higher priority services to its registered members by differentiating them over guest members by an indication, received from each UE in its RADIO RESOURCE CONTROL CONNECTION REQUEST message, whether it is registered or a guest. The CSG can also transmit its ID/name for display at the UE so the UE may select whether and which CSG to join.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2014Date of Patent: December 22, 2015Assignee: Cellular Communications Equipment LLCInventors: Ivan Ore, Markus Dillinger

Patent number: 9100868Abstract: A rule specifies a timing relation between a measurement configuration which indicates at least one subframe to measure and a reporting configuration which indicates at least one subframe in which to report. This rule is used by both user equipment UE and network to map between a downlink subframe in which channel state information is measured and an uplink subframe in which the channel state information is reported. The network may configure the UE with the measurement and reporting configurations via dedicated signaling or broadcast. If the measurement configuration is periodic and indicates multiple downlink subframes to measure the rule results in a one to one mapping of downlink to uplink subframe where less than all of the multiple downlink subframes map to an uplink subframe; if aperiodic the rule indicates a single downlink subframe to measure.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2011Date of Patent: August 4, 2015Assignee: Cellular Communications Equipment LLCInventors: Klaus Ingemann Pedersen, Timo Erkki Lunttila

Patent number: 9078168Abstract: A mobile station operating in EGPRS mode needs to the early establishment of an uplink TBF although has not data to send, at the only precautionary purpose of preventing an intolerable latency negatively affecting the subsequent delay-sensitive transmissions. To this aim, the mobile sends a Packet Channel Request message in one phase access mode including a new establishment cause called “Early TBF establishment.” The network establishes an uplink TBF indicating the requester and assigns a radio resource on one PDCH channel or more. Then the network schedules the transmission from the mobile station also when it does not have data to transmit other than dummy packets. This is performed through the USF flags in the usual manner. As soon as actual data become available for transmission, the mobile send them instead of dummy packets. In an alternative embodiment the mobile sends the Packet Channel Request message in two phase access mode.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2014Date of Patent: July 7, 2015Assignee: Cellular Communications Equipment LLCInventor: Sergio Parolari
