  • Patent number: 9798300
Abstract: A process for controlling a unit for torrefaction of biomass particles including: measurement of a mean diameter of the biomass particles; as a function of the mean diameter, calculation of a maximum torrefaction temperature for which the ratio of a characteristic time of the torrefaction to a characteristic time of the heat transfer at the level of the particles is equal to a minimum value; adjusting the torrefaction temperature to a value less than or equal to the maximum torrefaction temperature; adjusting the torrefaction time to a value such that the final yield by weight of the torrefaction is equal to a predefined target value.

  • Patent number: 7919436
Abstract: The invention provides genes that are unique either to Ehrlichia ruminantium strain Gardel or to Ehrlichia ruminantium strain Welgevonden, or allelic couples which are present in both strains but whose sequences differ between the two strains, as genetic markers to differentiate between these two strains. The invention also provides diagnostic methods using these genetic markers.

  • Patent number: 5598266
Abstract: A device for detecting defects (2, 3) in fibrous materials (4, 22) includes members (16, 17) for squeezing the material against a film (1), a separating member (24) downstream of the squeezing members for separating the fibrous material from the film, and an opto-electronic sensor (6) downstream of the separating member for imaging the film and defects. An image processing assembly (26, 44) is electrically connected to the output of the imaging assembly for sensing and counting the marks left on the film by the defects. A member (25) is provided for moving the film relative to the opto-electronic sensor. Various optical systems, particularly polarizers (9, 10), may be incorporated into the device.
