Abstract: A 4,5-trimethylene-4-isothiazoline-3-one of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents (i) hydrogen, (ii) alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, (iii) alkyl having 2 or 3 carbon atoms and substituted by one or two hydroxy groups, (iv) alkenyl having 3 to 6 carbon atoms, (v) ##STR2## wherein n is 0 or 1, m is 1 or 2, R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, nitro, trifluoromethyl or halogen, (vi) cycloalkyl having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and (vii) ##STR3## wherein R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms or ##STR4## defined above, or the salt thereof with a mineral or organic acid. These compounds are useful as bactericides or fungicides.

Abstract: Compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and represent a straight-chain or branched alkyl group of 1 to 15 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group of 3 to 6 carbon atoms, a 2-furyl, 3-furyl, 3-pyridyl, 4-pyridyl or 2-thienyl group or an aromatic group of the formula ##STR2## wherein X, Y and Z are the same or different and represent hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, trifluoromethyl, alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halogen, nitro or hydroxy groups are useful as pharmaceutical, veterinary and cosmetic agents.

Abstract: Pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition containing as the active component 1,8-dihydroxy-10-phenyl-9-anthrone, and a process for preparing said active component.

Abstract: The invention provides compounds of formula ##STR1## in which formula R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are identical or different and denote:(1) taken separately: a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl radical, an unsubstituted phenyl radical or a phenyl radical substituted with a halogen atom, with a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy radical or with a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy radical;(2) taken together either(a) a polymethylene linkage; or(b) a benzene ring; or(c) a cyclic linkage containing a nitrogen atom to constitute an isothiazolopyridinone derivative; m being able to have the values 0 or 1;the group A in the formula (IV) denoting the group ##STR2## where R.sub.8 corresponds to a hydrogen atom, a methyl radical, a hydroxymethyl radical or a --CH.sub.2 O--CO--Ret group. The invention also provides a process for preparing the abovementioned compounds and also drug compositions and cosmetic compositions containing them.

Abstract: 1,8-dihydroxy-9-anthrone derivatives, substituted in the 10-position by an unsaturated radical, are described which have utility as ingredients in human and veterinary pharmaceutical and cosmetic preparations and which are compounds of the structural formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a --CO.sub.2 R'.sub.2 radical,R.sub.2 and R'.sub.2 identical or different, represent a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched chain alkyl radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl radical having 4 to 6 carbon atoms or a benzyl radical,or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 taken together form a radical --CO--, andn is 0 or 1,with the proviso that when n is 0 and R.sub.1 is --CO.sub.2 R'.sub.2, R.sub.2 and R'.sub.2 do not simultaneously represent the radical CH.sub.3,and the isomers of the compounds of formula (I) and mixtures thereof.

Abstract: An anti-acne composition comprises in a carrier suitable for topical application to the skin an active compound having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is linear or branched alkyl having 1-12 carbon atoms, mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl having 2-5 carbon atoms, alkenyl having 3-6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl having 3-6 carbon atoms, or a radical of the formula ##STR2## wherein n is 0 or 1, m is 1, 2 or 3, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms, nitro, --CF.sub.3 or halogen. The acid salts of these active compounds can also be used.

Abstract: The invention concerns adducts of 1,8-dihydroxy-9-anthrone, of formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, taken together, form one of the following divalent residues: ##STR2## R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R'.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R'.sub.5 representing H, an alkyl group having 1-8 C with the exception of R.sub.5 =R'.sub.5 =CH.sub.3, a monohydroxyalkyl group with 2-8 C, possibly interrupted by one or more oxygens, a cycloalkyl group having 4-6 C, a phenyl group, or a benzyl group.Utilization of the compounds (I) in human or veterinary medicine, in particular in the treatment of psoriasis and or warts, and in cosmetics.

Abstract: A method for the treatment of psoriasis uses a composition which contains in an appopriate vehicle for topical application at least one active ingredient corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a radical of the group represented by ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 and R'.sub.1 are identical or different and represent H, methyl or ethyl.
