  • Patent number: 4231851
Abstract: Adherent insoluble coating film of a phenolic resin is obtained by electrolysis of an alkaline-reacting aqueous electrolyte comprising phenol, a mono- or di-substituted phenol with substituent(s) in o- or m-position, and an alkylene diamine, in specific proportions. The current density shall never exceed 10 mA/sq.cm. The voltage is from 2.5 V to 10 V and is preferably kept constant. Coating thickness values exceeding 1 micron and up to about 25-30 microns are obtainable within a short time at the expense of 2-2.5 Faradays per mole deposited phenol. The substituted phenol is preferably o-chloro-phenol, and the diamine is preferably ethylenediamine.

  • Patent number: 4231344
Abstract: An air induction system which reduces the fuel odor and noise of a diesel engine includes two acoustically insulating baffle elements which cover a fuel pump, fuel pipes and fuel injectors and cause the air inducted by the engine to pass through an air filter interposed between the baffle elements, thereby inducting the fumes from the fuel system along respective pipes which extend across the top of the engine into respective cylinder air induction ducts.

  • Patent number: 4223655
Abstract: A device regulates the fuel delivery from a fuel injection pump to the cylinder of an internal combustion engine by means of two secondary chambers connected respectively to the induction manifold and Venturi tube, and a main chamber open to the outside, so that pressure variations in the Venturi tube and manifold cause the diaphragms of the respective chambers to move, thereby acting upon mechanical transmission means to control a regulating component of the injection pump.

  • Patent number: 4215545
Abstract: A motor vehicle engine is arranged to drive the vehicle wheels through a mechanical transmission, an hydraulic system including a variable-output, reversible, hydraulic pump, a variable-output hydraulic motor usable reversibly as a pump and a two-speed gear box. The outlet and inlet of the pump are reversibly connected by delivery and return conduits respectively, through a distributor, to the inlet and outlet of the motor and an hydraulic accumulator is connected through a closable valve to the delivery conduit, the operation of the system being controlled by a microcomputer so that when the vehicle decelerates at a rate greater than that due to natural resistance, kinetic energy which is normally lost in the engine is stored in the accumulator and can subsequently be reused to drive the vehicle wheels, the engine being cut out or maintained at minimum power.

  • Patent number: 4209076
Abstract: An exhaust silencer for an agricultural tractor having a diesel engine with a cylinder capacity 2.5 to 4 liters and developing a power of 50 to 75 HP has a cylindrical body of elliptical cross-section which is closed at each end by an end-wall and is subdivided internally into two resonance chambers and two gas expansion chambers by three dished baffle-plates, the third baffle-plate having two tubular ducts. To optimize the acoustic performance specific dimensions of the chambers, of the ducts, of a perforated induction pipe and of an outlet pipe are prescribed.

  • Patent number: 4208174
Abstract: The radial compression molding apparatus according to the invention is provided with a plurality of complementary die segments which define a cavity in which moldable material is to be introduced. The die segments are movable concurrently between a first inoperative position and a final compression position so as to be adapted to compress the moldable material within the cavity from a first volume to a final volume along a plurality of radial directions which are substantially perpendicular to a common longitudinal axis. Each die segment consists of a plurality of separately operable segment portions which are superimposed in a direction parallel to said common longitudinal axis so as to permit to obtain molded articles consisting of a plurality of contiguous longitudinal portions having different cross sections and equal density.
