Patent number: 7086997Abstract: A martial arts practice device that is freestanding and can be used by one or more practitioners. The device has a base which can be filled with liquid for weighting, a stem extending upwardly from the base and a plurality of rails attached to the stem. A plurality of target adapter assemblies are slidably mounted on the rails. A target is attached to each target adapter assembly by a target attachment assembly. The target attachment assemblies include an elastomeric pivot so that the targets can pivot in any direction with respect to the target adapter assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2004Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Century IncorporatedInventors: Sarah B. Patent number: 6832391Abstract: A glove for protecting an individual's hand is provided. The glove includes a palm covering shaped to substantially correspond to the shape of at least a portion of the palmar side of the individual's hand, and a back covering shaped to substantially correspond to the shape of at least a portion of the dorsal side of the individual's hand. The back covering is secured to the palm covering so as to form a hand receiving opening, a thumb stall, and a plurality of finger stalls. The glove further includes a palm padding secured to selected areas of the palm covering so as to provide cushioning for the palmar side of the individual's hand, and a slip resistant material provided on selected areas of the palm covering to facilitate the gripping of an object by the individual's hand.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2001Date of Patent: December 21, 2004Assignee: Century IncorporatedInventor: Danny Michael Bower

Patent number: 6558298Abstract: A training bag including a first bladder, a second bladder, and flexible outer shell is provided. The first bladder is fabricated of a flexible, water impervious material and defines a water chamber for holding a selected quantity of water. The second bladder is fabricated of a flexible, air impervious material defines an air chamber. The second bladder has a central cavity in which the first bladder is positioned such that the second bladder is concentrically positioned about the first bladder. The second bladder is inflatable by passing pressurized air into the air chamber. The outer shell is positioned about the first and second bladders.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2001Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Century IncorporatedInventors: Sarah Fields, L. Patent number: 5624358Abstract: A training bag apparatus includes a fluid-fillable stand having a pedestal and column supporting a striking pad assembly. The column has a fill opening for filling and emptying the stand. A cap provided to seal the fill opening includes a needle valve for pressurizing the stand. The column of the stand has a pair of channels and lock slots for setting the striking pad assembly to various heights. The striking pad assembly includes a sleeve, a pad disposed around the sleeve and a cover surrounding the exterior of the sleeve and pad. A pair of buttons protrude from the inside wall of the sleeve at locations corresponding to the position of the channels of the column. The sleeve buttons, channels and lock slots cooperate to secure the striking pad assembly at the desired height setting on the column.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1995Date of Patent: April 29, 1997Assignee: Century IncorporatedInventor: Gary Hestilow

Patent number: 3970893Abstract: A latching circuit is used to exclusively select either a full intensity command signal, a presettable intermediate intensity command signal or a zero intensity command signal. The command signals are fed to an output signal generating circuit which controls a variable voltage supply source for a lighting system. A null comparator and integrating circuit compares the output signal with the selected command signal and increases or decreases the output signal until it is in conformity with the selected command signal. Circuits are also disclosed which provide the capability of changing the intensity of the lights between two preselected intermediate intensity levels or between any two of a number of preselected intermediate intensity levels.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1974Date of Patent: July 20, 1976Assignee: Strand Century IncorporatedInventor: Doyle D. Patent number: 3968401Abstract: An enabling circuit selectively generates first, second and third enabling signals. The first enabling signal enables a pulse generator means which generates a train of clock pulses. The second enabling signal enables a gating means which applies the clock pulses generated by the pulse generator means to the up input terminal of an up/down counter. The third enabling signal enables a gating means which applies the clock pulses generated by the pulse generator means to the down input terminal of the up/down counter. The up/down counter evaluates the difference between the number of clock pulses applied to its up input terminal and the number of clock pulses applied to its down input terminal and generates a digital signal representative of the evaluation. Finally, digital to analog converter means generates an analog output control signal whose magnitude is determined by the digital generated by the up/down counter.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1974Date of Patent: July 6, 1976Assignee: Strand Century IncorporatedInventor: Doyle D.
