Abstract: An earthmoving vehicle performance monitoring system includes one or a plurality of sensors for mounting on an earthmoving vehicle. A processor is configured to receive sensed data generated by the sensors when mounted on the vehicle and when the vehicle is excavating in a region which the vehicle is tasked with excavating, to analyze the sensed data to update a topographical map of the region, and to analyze changes to the topographical map due to the updating to calculate a volume of earth that was excavated by the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20230408289
Abstract: A vehicle onboard guidance system includes a guidance unit having a communications module. A processor is configured to receive from one or more sensors sensed data of at least a topography of an environment of a vehicle on which the guidance unit is installed. The sensed data is analyzed to generate a map of the environment based on the received sensed data and share, via the communications module, the generated map with another vehicle onboard guidance system, to register the topography with a map of the environment that was received, via the communications module, from another vehicle onboard guidance system, or to modify a map that was received from another vehicle onboard guidance system.

  • Publication number: 20230278574
Abstract: An onboard hazard detection system for installing on a vehicle includes a processor that is configured to receive sensed data that is acquired by one or more sensors that are installed on the vehicle and that are configured to sense a topography of a region in the vicinity of the vehicle. The received data is analyzed to generate a three-dimensional map of the region based on the sensed data. One or more characteristics of an approach of the vehicle toward a cliff or safety barrier is calculated, based on the sensed data. The system detects when the calculated characteristics are indicative of a hazard and performs an action.

  • Publication number: 20230256971
Abstract: A roadway condition monitoring system is configured to receive sensed data that is acquired by sensors that are mounted on vehicles that operate on a roadway. The sensed data includes values of parameters that characterize a roadway condition, including a pattern of travel of the vehicles along the roadway or a mapping of the roadway. A current roadway condition is calculated from the sensed data that is received during a current trip of the vehicles on a segment of the roadway, and the current roadway condition is compared with a nominal roadway condition. The calculation of the nominal roadway condition utilizes the sensed data that is received from the sensors during a plurality of trips of the vehicles on the segment. When an anomaly is detected in which the current roadway condition deviates from the nominal roadway condition, a notification of the detected anomaly is issued.

Abstract: Methods and systems for accurately determining positions of the system itself, or a vehicle, in which the system is used, operate by obtaining a plurality of first patterns, each of the first patterns associated with a position; establishing a system position; acquiring at least one second pattern proximate to the position of the system; and, matching the at least one second pattern to at least one of first patterns, to determine a subsequent system position.
