Abstract: Zirconium oxide material and a sintered molded body produced from the material. The zirconium oxide is present in the tetragonal phase in an amount of 70 to 99.9 vol.-%. The tetragonal phase is chemically stabilized with rare-earth oxides. The sintered moldings can be used, e.g., in the medical field as implants or as dental prostheses.
Abstract: A method, a device and use for measurement of a force with a pressure sensor made of a piezoelectric material. The change in the capacitance of the pressure sensor is used for force measurement so that no load amplifier is necessary for measurement and as a result the measuring system as a whole is miniaturized.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for checking ceramic ball heads (3) for hip-joint prostheses which have a receiving space (8) with a conical side face with a clamping cone angle ? and a cone inlet (7) and are subjected to a pressure in order to check areas of the receiving space (8). To ensure that all the checked ball heads (3) also remain functionally ready for relevant, oblique in vivo load situations without suffering damage, it is proposed that only the area of the cone inlet (7) is subjected to a radial force perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the ball head (3).

Abstract: A spacer comprised of individual components as joint replacement in the arthroplasty of shoulder, knee, and hip for the temporary surgical care of infections in the joint. The problems addressed by the invention are those of avoiding an adhesion of the bone to the spacer and a release of wear products, achieving that the patient does substantially not experience any mobility restriction, and keeping the wear and tear of the spacer as little as possible. These problems are solved in that at least one component of the spacer is made of a ceramic material, of a plurality of ceramic materials, or of a non-ceramic material having a ceramic coating.

Abstract: The invention relates to an acetabular cup (4) and a cup insert (3) for a hip joint prosthesis (12), wherein the cup insert (3) is coupled to the acetabular cup by means of a clamping cone (5) of a conical clamping device in the equatorial region (7) of the two components (3, 4) and, in the unloaded state of the cup insert (3), a gap (8) is provided between the two components (3, 4) below the clamping cone (5) to the pole (6), said gap being delimited by the radial contours of the two components (3, 4). In order to reduce the tensile stresses in the cup insert, the radial contours of the two components (3, 4) have identical geometric elements in the same order, starling front the lower cone end (9) to the pole (6), and tangential or substantially tangential transitions exist between the geometric elements.
Abstract: A composite material having a first phase includes an aluminum oxide proportion of at least 65% by volume and a second phase comprising a zirconium proportion of 10 to 35% by volume. The zirconium is present as zirconium oxide. The aluminum oxide is a ceramic matrix and the zirconium oxide is dispersed therein. From 90 to 99% of the zirconium oxide is present in the tetragonal phase. A chemical stabilizer for stabilizing the tetragonal phase of the zirconium oxide is also present. The total content of chemical stabilizer is <0.2 mol % relative to the zirconium oxide content.

Abstract: A ceramic composite material and a method for producing same. The ceramic composite material has a ceramic matrix comprising zirconium oxide and at least one secondary phase dispersed therein. The matrix is composed of zirconium oxide as at least 51 vol.-% of composite material, and the secondary phase is in a proportion of 1 to 49 vol.-% of composite material, wherein 90 to 99% of the zirconium oxide is present in the tetragonal phase based on the total zirconium oxide portion. The tetragonal phase of the zirconium oxide is stabilized by at least one member selected from the group consisting of chemical stabilization and mechanical stabilization. The ceramic composite is damage-tolerant.

Abstract: The invention relates to a ceramic cooling and heating body for controlling the temperature of components, wherein the cooling and heating body consists of a plate-shaped support with a front side, an opposite rear side and side faces connecting the front side to the rear side, and metallizations, connected to the support, are arranged on the front side and/or the rear side, and the support has cooling elements. In order to be able to control the temperature of any electrical or electronic component, it is proposed according to the invention that a heating structure is affixed to the front side and/or the rear side.
Abstract: A metal cutting tool has a supporting tool, which has a recess for accommodating a cutting plate. The cutting plate is provided with a clamping trough, which is held in the supporting tool by a clamping claw. The clamping claw is fixed against the supporting tool by a clamping screw. A pressure piece is placed on the clamping claw and its underside facing the cutting plate is provided with a cam, which is in contact with the clamping trough and the clamping claw pulls the pressure piece toward the clamping screw.
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for testing a ceramic socket insert for hip joint implants having a receiving device, a pressure piece and optionally having a plunger, wherein the receiving device has a recess with a positioning region for receiving the socket insert and the recess has a receiving cone in the positioning region. According to the invention, in order for the device to be universally applicable to all socket inserts (monolithic, modular, pre-joined) and therefore replace all current devices, an annular ductile adapter piece having a conical outer surface contacting the receiving cone and an inner surface contacting the socket insert is arranged in the positioning region between the receiving device and the socket insert, wherein the friction between the receiving device and adapter piece is lower than between the adapter piece and socket insert.
