  • Publication number: 20230398759
Abstract: A food baking apparatus includes a compressible die and a mechanical stop for controlling a die spacing of the compressible die. The mechanical stop includes a supporting system and a mounting element mounted onto the supporting system. The mounting element includes at least one protrusion having a particular amount of protrusion from the mounting element, which amount of protrusion may be adjustable for any single protrusion. By translation or rotation of the supporting system and/or the mounting element during operation of the apparatus, a protrusion is selected. The protrusions mechanically stop further compression of the dies during an operation of the food baking apparatus. Thus, the selection determines the die spacing applicable for the baking process, based on the amount of protrusion of the selected protrusion.

  • Patent number: 9944539
Abstract: Strong fabrics are provided that can be used for items that can be moved or gathered while maintaining their integrity. The added strength of the fabric and the performance of the fabric make these fabrics and these items more effective in responding to oil spills. These fabrics and items will remove oil sheen from the surface of water and can absorb more than their dry weight in oil from water. Non-linting socks (e.g., sediment socks or absorbent socks) are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7288770
Abstract: The present invention relates, generally, to a portable system for UV spectroscopy capable of the detection and quantification of chemicals from either open air environments or by insertion of a sample using a sample chamber. The system is capable of simultaneously detecting and quantifying chemicals in either a gaseous or liquid form with both sharp and broad spectroscopic features. UV light is generated, collimated into a beam, and focused through a sample volume. The volume can be comprised of an open environment system, or a closed system with a sample cell. The sample cell may contain a number of mirrors which results in one or more “bounces” of light through the volume prior to being focused into a UV Spectrometer. The said light source may be supplied by a variety of sources. Said light is collected and transferred to the processor by short length optical fibers thereby minimizing the light loss in the deep UV.

  • Patent number: 5431986
Abstract: Spunbonded nonwoven nylon fabrics are formed from a blend of nylon 6 and nylon 6,6 polymers. A blend or copolymer of 0.1 to 10 percent by weight of nylon 6, balance nylon 6,6 is extruded into continuous filaments, pneumatically attenuated and drawn, and deposited onto a collection surface forming a web. The web is bonded either chemically or thermally. The fabric exhibits improved filament bonding. The addition of nylon 6 also improves the spinning performance of a nylon 6,6 spunbonded nonwoven process.

  • Patent number: 5102646
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of fabrication in the powdered state of ceramic compounds formed between a metalloid and a refractory metal, characterized in that it involves the following steps:a) said metalloid is caused to react with a reducing metal within a liquid bath constituted at least partly by a fused salt of said reducing metal in order to obtain a saltlike intermediate compound which combines said reducing metal and the metalloid, in solution in said bath,b) a reducible salt of said refractory metal is then injected into said bath in a divided form which is directly distributed throughout the bath in order to produce said powder by reaction of the reducible salt with said intermediate compound of the reducing metal.

  • Patent number: 4891133
Abstract: Liquid chromatography apparatus including a hollow cylinder and a fixed end closure in which the effective useful length of the cylinder is varied through the use of a piston member that slides within the cylinder due to force exerted by a threaded shaft that is connected to a handle. Binding of the piston member in the cylinder is prevented by a ball joint that operatively connects the piston member to the threaded shaft and by a plurality of O-rings located on the piston member that contact the inner wall of the cylinder and tend to prevent tipping of the piston member. Even liquid distribution and filtering is obtained through a 0.5 micron porous sintered stainless steel liquid distribution disk. A smooth inclined surface in combination with an uninterrupted ring provide a trap for bubbles of gas located inside the cylinder.
