  • Patent number: 4791688
Abstract: A jet pump macerator pump sewage handling system which provides a unique waste control system for use in mobile units such as passenger trains and ships in which multiple toilets are connected to a transfer manifold pipe which communicates with a non-clogging jet pump which is formed with a venturi and through which liquid material is driven by a macerator pump. Waste material from the toilets is drawn by the jet pump through the transfer manifold pipe and discharged into the retention tank. The macerator pump withdraws material from the retention tank, grinds it and discharges it back into the retention tank. The macerator pump has a self-cleaning feature in that it reverses and cleans itself whenever a loss in discharge pressure due to excessive solids loading is sensed. The transfer manifold pipe is virtually free from clogging due to the action of an air induction valve which keeps waste material in the manifold pipe moving without allowing it to accumulate.

  • Patent number: 4750118
Abstract: The present invention comprises a system for remote control of garage doors and other devices wherein an extremely large number of codes are available for remote transmitters for operating the garage operator and wherein each transmitter has its own unique and permanent nonuser changeable code. The receiver at the garage door operator is capable of storing and remembering a number of different codes corresponding to different transmitters such that the receiver can be programmed so as to actuated by more than one transmitted code thus allowing two or more transmitters to actuate the same garage door operator and wherein the receiver stores the valid codes for the different transmitters.

  • Patent number: 4716301
Abstract: The present invention provides a power supply for a digital light controller which is placed in a wall box where the neutral line cannot be used. The invention uses two separate and different kinds of power supplies that are placed in series with the load and the digital light controller depends on the power supply 1 when the load is off and on the second power supply when the load is on. The supplies are alternately switched when either the remote control or a manual switch is triggered. The first power supply uses a switch that is either opened or closed to develope a voltage drop of V or 0 and the second supply uses diodes back to back to develop a voltage drop which can be stepped up and rectified to a DC voltage for powering the digital light control.

  • Patent number: 4678116
Abstract: A compact continuous flow energy efficient gas fired water heater/boiler for use in residential, commercial and industrial buildings wherein cold water enters the heater and flows downward through an outer annulus and then rises up through an inner annulus around a central gas flue, and wherein combustion gas flows upward through the central flue and then downward through a set of heat-conductive tubes and finally upwardly through the middle annulus to the exit. Air flow blower provides draft. The burner is capable of burning gas at widely varying rates of gas flow and is regulated by a gas modulator valve approximately proportional to the rate of hot water usage and the force for the gas modulator is generated by an orifice type differential pressure generator in the inlet water pipe.

  • Patent number: 4656831
Abstract: Water is recovered and purified from exhaust gases of internal combustion engines which produce water vapor when a hydrocarbon fuel is burned. The present invention passes the engine exhaust through a particulate filter then a catalytic reactor to remove the impurities and then through a precooler and a condenser so as to extract the water therein. The water is then passed through a polishing column and recovered for use in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4653565
Abstract: An improved garage door opener which has an all plastic outer case in which is mounted a metal motor supporting bracket so as to add strength and rigidity. The unit utilizes a cable drive system which moves in a vertical loop which eliminates side to side racking of the rail and which allows a less expensive rail such as a tube to be used. The all plastic housing is designed so that when the cover is removed all components are accessible and the entire operator is easily serviced, the components fit into nested areas that are molded into the plastic housing. The limit and force adjustments are conveniently located and identified on the outside of the housing. A simplified improved hanging bracket is provided wherein the hanging bracket is attached to the metal motor supporting bracket which supports the motor and the gear housing on opposite sides thereof.

  • Patent number: 4638433
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled garage door operator which eliminates lower and upper limit switches on the garage door in that the upper and lower limits are set in a program mode of the microprocessor with up and down control switches by the operator. The settings of the door are stored in the memory of the microprocessor. The microprocessor also sets the force limits by establishing them slightly above the actual force required to move the door up and down and this prevents the forces to be set greater than required which could result in a dangerous condition. An external security switch is also connected to the microprocessor of the garage door operator to allow the door to be opened by those knowing the code. In program mode, the user enters in the 4 digit code and the 4 numbers are stored.

  • Patent number: 4599833
Abstract: An insert retainer for securing a door insert such as a window or screen unit within the door frame and comprising a one-piece flexible strip having a generally flat first web portion, a second web portion which extends from one end of the first web portion perpendicular thereto, a third web portion forming a channel with the first and second web portions, an arcuate integral hinge forming an extension of the second web portion, and an end portion extending outwardly from the integral hinge at an acute angle to the second web portion. The angularly extending end portion is arranged to be tightly received within a channel formed in the storm door and thereby compress the integral hinge about a bead forming a part of the channel construction. The invention also deals with an improved storm door including the new insert retainer.

  • Patent number: 4535629
Abstract: An acoustic emission monitoring system used for monitoring fatigue crack growth in metal or other materials such as occur, for example, in highway bridges during normal traffic loading. The transducers are placed on the plates to be tested to allow detection of acoustic emission from a particular site. By applying specific recognition methods to the acoustic emission AE, detection of flaws can be detected from a random noise background. The pattern recognition technique first subjects the received AE energy to an energy window test and if the energy is within the window, it is subjected to a rate test and if the energy exceeds predetermined rates, it is passed to a location test so as to locate the position of flaws.

  • Patent number: 4453269
Abstract: A novel apparatus and method for improving the stability of an electrical circuit such as an oscillator and/or a radio frequency transmitter which is coupled to a radiating element wherein the radiating element such as a loop is coupled to the inductor or capacitor of the frequency determining circuit of the oscillator so that frequency shifts will not occur due to inductive or capacitive effects. The oscillator circuit is mounted on an insulating sheet which has a ground plane on the opposite side thereof so as to provide effective shielding and the radiating element is mounted on a portion of the insulating sheet where the grounding plane does not extend. The radiating element is also coupled symmetrically to the inductor or capacitors of the frequency determining circuit and is connected at tap points which do not have the entire inductance between them.
