Abstract: A novel polypeptide isolated from the cornified envelope, polypeptides similar to the latter or fragments of the polypeptide as well as a cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical composition containing same are described. The mainly cosmetic and/or therapeutic use of the polypeptide, or similar polypeptides or fragments of the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide, or an encoding nucleotide sequence for the polypeptide, to reinforce the barrier function of the epidermis and prevent and/or treat the signs of skin dryness or prevent and/or treat disorders of the barrier function or the fragilisation of the epidermis. Finally, the isolated encoding polynucleotide for the polypeptide are also disclosed.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition includes a boron nitride complex powder in which particles of metal oxide are attached to at least a part of the surface of a base material consisting of boron nitride. The metal oxide is preferably a combination of titanium dioxide, yellow iron oxide, red iron oxide and black iron oxide. Preferred compositions include liquid or powder foundation, lipstick, eye shadow, eye liner and mascara. The cosmetic composition including a cosmetic powder is capable of imparting smoothness to the touch, lively finish with fine texture and natural glow, and adhesion to the skin when applied to the skin.

Abstract: A process of manufacturing a solid cosmetic product, includes the steps of applying to a composition based on powder and fluid binder, introduced into a mould, a sheet of porous material having an average pore diameter ranging from 5 to 180 ?m; then passing at least some of the volatile solvent through the sheet; removing the volatile solvent that has passed through the sheet and drying the composition in order to solidify it before depositing it in a packaging. The solid product obtained according to this process and to its uses as a face and/or body makeup product are also described.
