  • Patent number: 6599577
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of preparation for a degradable, water and oil resistant protective membrane. In the said method, carbon dioxide copolymer is dissolved in a low toxic or non-toxic solvent to form a solution of 3-6 wt % concentration. After standing and filtration to remove metal oxide, the solution is used to coat the surface of the fabricated starch, paper pulp, or straw tableware by spraying or dipping. The residual solvent is removed by drying process and a degradable, water and oil resistant and transparent protective membrane is obtained. The thickness of the protective membrane is in the range of 10-20 micrometer. Metal ion content is lower than 1 ppm. No leakage and deformation of the tableware are observed after the tableware is immerged in water or edible oil for 4 hours at 80° C. The decoloration test by cold edible oil and ethanol is negative. Fungus test gives grade V.

  • Patent number: 6576694
Abstract: The present invention provides blends comprising 30-70 parts by weight of poly(3-hydroxyalkanoate) (PHA) resin, 70-30 parts by weight of higher molecular weight carbon dioxide-propylene oxide copolymers (PPC) with over 98% alternating copolymer structure, 1-10 parts by weight of talcum powder, 0.2-3 parts by weight of boron nitride, and 0.1-2 parts by weight antioxidant(s), where the sum of parts of PHA and PPC is 100 parts by weight. The present invention also provides for a method of preparing the blends, which may comprise the step of extrusion and pelletization in a conventional twin-screw extruder. The melt mass in the twin-screw extruder is kept in the range of 175° C.-185° C. The blends can be used in extrusion of plates and sheets, preparation of films and in injection molding. These fabricated articles possess biodegradable property, good mechanical properties, good printing property, good barrier property and sealing property.

  • Patent number: 6518217
Abstract: The present invention relates a method for preparing nanometer electrocatalyst for proton exchange membrane fuel cells, comprising the steps of: 1) adding in water a platinum halogen compound or a mixture of a platinum halogen compound and a ruthenium halogen compound, and active carbon, the amount of noble metal in the solution is 0.5-10 g/L, and the amount of active carbon is 0.05-2 g/L; 2) adjusting the pH of the solution to 2.5-10.5 with potassium hydroxide and/or ammonium hydroxide; 3) adding dropwise a reducing agent to an amount of 2.5 to 5 times in excess of that of the noble metal in moles, and allowing the reduction reaction to proceed; 4) filtering off the liquid and washing the remains; and 6) drying the remains. The catalysts prepared by the present invention have uniform particle sizes in the range of 4±0.5 nm, and superior electrochemical properties.

  • Patent number: 6158681
Abstract: A low shearing curved surface granulator for bulk feed consists of a feeding mechanism and a granulating mechanism; wherein the mainbody of the feeding mechanism is a cylindrical body, the main part of the granulating mechanism is a groove pipe with flanges on both its ends, the groove pipe is longitudinally mounted on the cylindrical body, and the granulator is provided with a ball comber board and a ball scraper. A sector plate is mounted parallel to the cylindrical body on the inner cavity baseplane of the cylindrical body in the feeding mechanism; a driving wheel is set up under the sector plate; a sliding pin is fastened in the driving wheel; the sliding pin fits in with a slide way opened on the sector plate, which slides up and down in the slide way following rotating of the driving wheel, and the sector plate is made to swing repeatedly around the pin in the cylindrical body. The granulator performs massive feeding in one time, can greatly reduce labor.
