Patents Assigned to Chapin Manufacturing, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6367663
Abstract: A hand-held foaming apparatus includes a pressure vessel for containing a foamable liquid and an air space overlying the liquid. A hand pump is mounted within the vessel and sealably connected to a sealable opening at the top of the vessel. The pump comprises an external handle connected to a piston that extends substantially to the bottom of the vessel. Actuating the pump by operating the handle causes formation of foam from the foamable liquid in the overlying air space and discharge of the foam from a foam discharge outlet that comprises foam discharge control means and an interchangeable nozzle and is located on the vessel above the air space.

  • Patent number: 6357673
Abstract: A sprayer assembly for dispensing a fluid having suspended therein particulate matter of a particulate size includes a reservoir. The fluid to be sprayed is contained in the interior of the reservoir. The reservoir includes a first opening for receiving the fluid and a second opening for dispensing the fluid. A pump is received in the first opening and includes a pump handle disposed exterior to the reservoir and a pump mechanism disposed in the reservoir interior. The pump is operable to increase the pressure in the reservoir interior. A discharge tube has an outlet end fluidly connected to the reservoir second opening and an intake end disposed in the reservoir interior. A filter having a plurality of filter passages is disposed within the reservoir interior and is associated with the intake end of the discharge tube. The filter prevents particles larger than the particulate size from passing into the discharge tube.

  • Patent number: 6347729
Abstract: A hose coupling apparatus for removably coupling a hose to a discharge opening of a spray unit includes an elongate hose retainer having a plug end and a stem end. The hose retainer defines a longitudinal fluid passageway extending therethrough from the plug end to the stem end. The plug end is configured for being received within the discharge opening of the spray unit. The stem end is configured for being coupled to the hose. At least one locking tab is disposed intermediate the plug end and the stem end. Each of the at least one locking tab is configured for being disposed within a corresponding slot defined by a neck which surrounds the discharge opening of the spray unit, thereby precluding rotation of the hose retainer relative to the neck. A hose nut defines a hose bore therethrough. The hose bore is configured for receiving the hose such that the hose nut is slidable over the hose.

  • Patent number: 6209804
Abstract: A bulkhead fitting for a tank sprayer includes a tank boss and an intermediate hose-receiving adapter, each having respectively a male or female longitudinally-oriented latching portion such that when the adapter is inserted into the boss, the latching portions come together to prevent relative rotation between the boss and the adapter. The female latching portion comprises a longitudinal groove in the outer surface of either the boss or the adaptor. The male latching portion comprises a longitudinal tab extending from an outer portion of either the boss or adapter and is matable with the corresponding female latching portion. In a currently preferred embodiment, two grooves are disposed 180° apart in the outer end of the boss and two tabs are disposed 180° apart on a flange of the barbed adapter. The invention is useful in preventing inadvertent unscrewing of a bulkhead fitting by torsional forces on the hose.

  • Patent number: 6113003
Abstract: A hand-held compressed air duster apparatus comprises a pressurizable vessel for containing a fine particulate dusting material. The vessel has an upper shoulder provided with a sealable top opening, in which a hand pump is mounted and sealably connected to the top opening. The pump comprises an external handle connected to a piston extending into the vessel. A dust discharge outlet is disposed on the shoulder of the vessel. Located within the vessel are two concentric tubes. A rotatable outer tube having a closed lower end that is provided with a pivot foot in contact with the bottom of the vessel extends upwards to an open upper end that is in fluid communication with the interior of the vessel. The rotatable outer tube comprises a dust feed agitator pin extending outwardly from the outer surface of the tube.

  • Patent number: 5931508
Abstract: A fluid coupling having a first part removably threadably connected to a second part, wherein one of the parts has a latch arm resiliently deformable by engagement with the projections incident to threading and unthreading of the first part on the second part. The projections and the latch arm have cooperating first cam surfaces and cooperating second cam surfaces arranged to engage one another and cooperating to require the application of relatively small and large forces to affect threading and unthreading of the first part relative to the second part.
