    Abstract: A method of providing a gas-gettering medium within hermetically sealed devices which allows small cavity devices to be leak tested to verify their seal integrity. The gettering medium utilizes forms of charcoal, including activated carbon materials. A hermetically sealed device with the charcoal incorporated therein, as in an otherwise normal void in the device, or mixed with a charge of explosive in the device.
