Patent number: 5992772Abstract: A powdered lubricant applicator is provided which utilizes a venturi nozzle to draw powder from a fluidized hopper. The amount of powder delivered from the hopper is controlled by the air flow rate through the nozzle and by the length of time that the air flows through the nozzle. As air passes through the nozzle, powdered lubricant is drawn from the fluidized hopper and passed with the air along a delivery tube. As the fluidized powdered lubricant passes along the delivery tube, additional "atomizing" air is introduced into the delivery tube to assist powder delivery to the destination mechanism to be lubricated. In addition, fluidizing air is added to the delivery tube. The air used to assist the powder delivery (i.e., the atomizing air) and the air used to fluidize the powder (i.e., the fluidizing air) impact the powder delivery. Three pressure regulators are used to independently control the flow air, the atomizing air and the fluidizing air.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Chem-Trend IncorporatedInventors: Paul Frederick Hibner, Robert Charles Bennett, James Charles Costello, III

Patent number: 5468401Abstract: A carrier-free pulverulent metalworking lubricant composition. In one preferred form, the composition contains at least two lubricant components one of which comprises a resin having a highly polar functional group the composition being formed by a method comprising the steps of: (a) forming a dry mixture of said particulate lubricant components, and (b) agglomerating said admixture to form agglomerated particles. The application of the composition as a metal working lubricant significantly reduces smoke and oily waste generation in hot forging operations by eliminating the use of oils or volatile organic compounds as carriers, while providing acceptable performance, cleanability, and sprayability.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 1995Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Assignee: Chem-Trend, IncorporatedInventors: Andrew F. Patent number: 5400921Abstract: Particulate material delivery apparatus comprising: a measuring device for separating a predetermined quantity of particulate material from a particulate material supply; a first valve which is responsive to a single input signal and which regulates a control fluid and a delivery fluid; an actuator for shifting the measuring device between measuring and delivery positions in response to a pressure signal from the first valve; and a control apparatus for dispensing a pressurized delivery fluid for a variable, predetermined interval of time in response to a pressure signal from the first valve. Also, a method for delivering measured charges of a particulate material, comprising the steps of discharging one charge of the material to a first location, measuring a second charge of the material, and a delivering the first charge to a remote location while measuring the second charge.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1993Date of Patent: March 28, 1995Assignee: Chem-Trend IncorporatedInventors: Jack D. Patent number: 4787995Abstract: Lanolin emulsions and lanolin containing concentrates for water-based metalworking fluids are disclosed. The lanolin metalworking fluids contain water, lanolin, fatty acids, amines and nonionic surfactants. The compositions are stable in hard water.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1987Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Assignee: Chem-Trend, IncorporatedInventors: Daniel R. Nichols, Curtis R. Petersen

Patent number: 4580699Abstract: A proportioning system for creating admixture from diluent and concentrate comprises accumulators which are alternatively repetitively recharged so that one is always on-line. Recharging is controlled by a fluid system including a piston assembly for injecting a measured charge of concentrate into an accumulator being recharged. Diluent is introduced by opening and closing a valve from the diluent supply with the recharging being activated and terminated by level sensing switches associated with the accumulators. Electrical control circuitry and a stroke adjustment mechanism for the piston assembly are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1983Date of Patent: April 8, 1986Assignee: Chem-Trend IncorporatedInventors: Thomas L.
