Publication number: 20150012901Abstract: A fixed-outline floorplanning approach for mixed-size modules is disclosed. Firstly, evenly distribute mixed-size circuit modules to whole chip area based on different requirements such as wire-length, routability, or thermal in the global distribution stage. To maintain the global distribution result and satisfy the fixed-outline constraint, generate a slicing tree by recursively applying partition algorithm to divide modules distributed in a given region into several sub-regions. Then, to remove overlap between circuit modules and find a best solution, use bottom-up shape curve merging and top-down back tracing procedure to generate a slicing tree. The shape curve for each leaf in the tree is built first by enumerated packing. Then, the curves in the tree are merged iteratively from bottom to top, and feasible solutions in the shape curve of the root node are identified according to the fixed-outline constraint. Finally, the best solution is determined by a top-down back tracing procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2013Publication date: January 8, 2015Applicant: NATIONAL CHENG KUNG UNIVERSITYInventors: CHIA-MIN LIN, KAI-CHUNG CHAN

Patent number: 8917779Abstract: The invention provides an electrocardiogram signal compression and de-compression system. The invention uses the sign characteristics of the coefficients of the discrete cosine transform type IV and the characteristics of quantization of spectrum to perform the differential pulse code modulation of the spectrum for preserving the high frequency characteristics of the spectrum of the discrete Fourier transform. The invention also uses the Huffman coding to increase the compression ratio. Different from the conventional compression technology, the invention uses the fact that the quantization values of the spectrum in the high frequency are almost the same to increase the compression ratio and preserve the characteristics of high frequency components of the spectrum.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2013Date of Patent: December 23, 2014Assignee: National Cheng Kung UniversityInventors: Sheau-Fang Lei, Shin-Chi Lai, Chien-Sheng Lan

Publication number: 20140354993Abstract: A localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensing system with anisotropic particles is revealed. The anisotropy of nanoparticles spectrally splits the phase spectra of two perpendicular polarizations thus inducing a phase difference between the two polarizations. An apparatus of ellipsometry is used to measure the phase difference. The simulated results demonstrate that the full width at the half maximum of the spectrum of phase difference is much narrower than the spectrum of transmittance. Therefore the figure of merit is dramatically increased and the performance of the refractive index sensor is improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2013Publication date: December 4, 2014Applicant: NATIONAL CHENG KUNG UNIVERSITYInventors: CHUN-HUNG LIN, WEN-YU CHEN
