Abstract: Organic chick pea extracts are phytoestrogens, if present in an amount such as to provide an estrogenic activity equivalent to at least 1 nM of estradiol. Cosmetic compositions containing organic chick pea extracts are useful in improving the appearance of wrinkled, lined, dry, flaky, aged or photodamaged skin and improving skin thickness, elasticity, flexibility and plumpness.

Abstract: A method for a skin treatment regime and a respective product is provided which cosmetically improves human skin. The product includes a first composition containing at least one active and functioning to impart a first benefit to the skin. A second composition is provided which includes a second different active and imparts a second benefit to the skin. The first and second compositions are stored in respective separate containers, which nevertheless are joined together for reminding a consumer to use the compositions in tandem and to facilitate in one sale all necessary elements of a suggested regime. The product is housed in a container and includes a first composition containing a water soluble calcium phosphate salt or monolithic combination of calcium and phosphate salts in a carrier with the first composition having a pH less than 7, and a second composition containing an alkaline material and a fluoride ion source in a carrier to achieve a pH greater than 7.5. The first and second compositions are separated from one another prior to use. When combined upon application to the teeth, the first and second compositions form a system for inhibiting tartar around the teeth.

Abstract: A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a pouch formed from a first and second substrate sheet. At least one of the substrate sheets must be water permeable. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. A dry surfactant such as sodium cocoyl isethionate in contact with the water and effervescing carbon dioxide results in a highly pleasant sudsing system. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition. The effervescent action may improve deposition of the skin benefit agents onto the skin.

Abstract: A cosmetic product is provided for removing keratotic skin plugs. The product includes a flexible non-occlusive substrate sheet onto which a composition containing an anionic or nonionic polymer is deposited. The composition is treated to become dry non-tacky to the touch yet upon being wetted for use the composition again turns tacky and mobile. The method of application involves either directly moistening the product or indirectly moistening by first wetting a consumer's face in an area where the product is applied. Thereafter, water is allowed to evaporate leaving a film to which the keratotic plugs are bonded. The film is then peeled away concommittingly removing the plugs.

Abstract: The present invention relates to oral care compositions with an improved teeth whitening effect. This effect is achieved by inclusion in the oral care compositions of certain organic peroxy compounds as teeth whitening/bleaching agents, particularly peroxyamidophthalamides, sulphoperbenzoic acid, monoperoxyphthalic acid, and (per)acetylatedperboric acid with imine quaternary salts as catalysts for the peroxy compounds.

Abstract: A cosmetic product, particularly for the eye, is provided which includes a container, an absorbent pad with printing on at least one major surface, and a fluid cosmetic composition, the pad and composition being held within the container. The cosmetic composition is primarily water, especially amounts of water in excess of 90%. Most preferred as a substrate for the pad is a non-woven polyester. A cucumber slice design is the most preferred print on the pad. A method is also provided which reduces puffiness, soothes the eye and lessens dark circles around the eye. This method involves applying the aforementioned cosmetic composition via the pad onto the eye and its surrounding area.

Abstract: The invention relates to an adaptor which enables two premade tubes such as toothpaste tubes of varying sizes to be fitted together, one inside the other to obtain a dual tube dispenser providing for separate storage of two dissimilar substances and its co-extrusion from the dispenser as and when desired upon application of external pressure on the latter. The adaptor includes a threaded component in the form of a cap with internal threads to match the threads of the neck portion of conventional toothpaste tubes. A central passage provided in the adaptor communicates with the inside of the tube to which it is screw-fitted. The loss of available fluorine, caused by interaction between the calcium carbonate and the fluorine-providing compound is reduced by inclusion in the oral care composition of fully neutralized polyacrylic acid.

Abstract: A cosmetic product is provided for removing keratotic skin plugs. The product is a strip sealed for storage having from 0.0001 to 2% fragrance within the atmosphere of the sealed pouch. The strip includes a flexible substrate sheet onto which a composition containing an adhesive polymer is deposited. Fragrance is immediately available upon opening the pouch. Since fragrance is invested on outer surfaces of the strip, a user can immediately smell the scent upon the application of the strip to the nose or other facial areas. There is no longer dependence for release of fragrance held within the adhesive polymer composition.

Abstract: A duckbill valve is provided which includes a hollow cylindrical elastomeric body with first and second ends. The first end has walls parabolically tapering to an elongate slit, the slit being surrounded by an upper and lower lip. The second end has a non-uniformly round (e.g. oval) outer wall terminating in an open mouth. When inserted into a perfectly round apertured fitting, the non-uniformly round outer walled elastomeric body is bowed to form-fit the round configuration thereby forcing shut the lips and slit. Upon increased air pressure within the elastomeric body, the slit is forced open. In a second embodiment, the inner wall of the second end may be non-uniformly (e.g. oval) round. Insertion of a round tubular fitting within the non-round inner wall of the elastomeric body also achieves a bowed form-fit configuration which forces shut the lips and slit.

Abstract: A cosmetic powder is provided which includes a crosslinked non-emulsifying siloxane elastomer, a powdered inorganic material and a skin treatment agent. Inclusion of the elastomer allows for the coupling of water as well as water soluble salts into the cosmetic powder.
