Patent number: 6814438Abstract: The invention concerns a method for mounting a sprung joint for the frame of spectacles, comprising a step which consists in placing a spring pin in a first component and a step which consists in articulating the first component to a second component through a pivot pin enabling a bow of the frame, integral with one of the components, to pivot relative to a surface of the frame integral with the other component. The invention is characterised in that it consists in: opening the first component by elastic deformation, inserting the spring pin into the first component, and closing the later around the pin so as to retain it by elastic pinching against the spring compression. Preferably, the first component is forcefully opened with the pin. The method enables to simplify mounting a spring joint wherein the pin is permanently retained in the first component even if the pivot pin is lost.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2002Date of Patent: November 9, 2004Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Christophe Desbiez-Piat

Patent number: 6547389Abstract: The invention concerns an elastic articulating component for an optical frame, comprising a case (1), a slide (3) arranged inside the case, a locking socket (11) which itself mounted around the slide. The socket has an elastic tab (1) to block the socket relative to the case (1) when the latter is moved relative to an articulating knuckle (13) against the compression of a spring (7). The invention is characterised in that the case (1) has a housing (5) for guiding the slide (3) in translation inside the case, and the elastic tab (19) is inserted into an aperture (21) of the case (10) emerging into the housing (5). This arrangement enables to reduce play when the slide is being guided in translation inside the case and provides greater facility for maintaining the tab in the case. Advantageously, it enables for reduce the width of the case, thereby enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Christophe Hotellier

Patent number: 6481053Abstract: The invention concerns an elastic hinge for specticles frame comprising two fixed (5) and mobile (7) hinge elements, articulated about an axis of rotation (R) by a pivoting head (7A) of one (7) of the elements inserted in a pivoting head (5A) of the other element (5) and by a link (9) housed in succession in an inner passage (5D, 7D) of the two elements emerging into the pivoting heads. The invention is characterized in that each pivoting head (5A, 7A) has at the opening of the passage (5D, 7D) a stop member (B1, B2) on the outer side of the frame forming by the matching shape of one (B1) with the other (B2) a pivoting interface about a second axis of rotation (R′), the link (9) being arranged between the two axes of rotation (R, R′) when the bow is in a normal opening position. The hinge has two stable closing and opening positions as well as an additional unstable opening position.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2002Date of Patent: November 19, 2002Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Christophe Desbiez-Piat

Patent number: 6454407Abstract: The invention concerns a device a fixing member associated with the hinge element and anchored by overmoulding in a frame bow or front flank obtained by moulding. Said fixing member comprises a first plate bearing the hinge element, or the housing, and which via a central bridge is linked to a second plate extending substantially parallel to the first. The central bridge extends transversely in said bow or front flank while being completely embedded in the moulded material of said bow or front flank. The second plate projects outside the outer surface of the bow and of the front flank and has a surface forming an ornament.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2001Date of Patent: September 24, 2002Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Jacky Mille

Patent number: 6050686Abstract: An elastic spectacle frame comprises, on one side, a male charnier consisting of one end of a rod (12) solid with the middle part of a transverse connecting hinge pin (14), and a bearing surface (26) facing at least each portion of the pin protruding from the rod. The pin and the bearing surface being normally biased towards one another in the longitudinal direction of the rod by an elastic biasing mechanism (20,30,32), but are selectively movable apart from one another against the action of the elastic biasing mechanism. On the other side, the hinge comprises a female charnier (42,52) having eyelets (45,55) whose periphery, against which the surface comes to bear, is in the form of a cam, wherein at least one of the eyelets has a radial passageway (46,56), and wherein the interstice (49,59) between the eyelets is at least as big as the rod (12).Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1997Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Valentino De Rossi

Patent number: 5975693Abstract: The present invention relates to a resilient hinge which includes a front knuckle fixed to a front lug and an arm knuckle fixed to an arm. The two knuckles are connected by a hinge pin and have two contacting faces perpendicular to the hinge pin. The contacting face of one of the two knuckles has at least one raised portion with an oblique side interacting with one or more recessed portions of the contacting face of the other knuckle. The knuckles move in relation to each other along the connecting hinge pin and against the force exerted by a resilient device coaxial with the hinge pin when the raised portion leaves the recessed portions in the event of the arm rotating with respect to the front lug.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventors: Roger Malfroy, Gilles Papillard

Patent number: 5959715Abstract: The present invention relates to a resilient hinge for spectacle frames. The hinge includes an inner male or female knuckle fixed to the end of a frame lug extending in a direction and an arm substantially in the extension of the lug and abutting against the lug when the arm is in its normal open position. The inner side of the arm is connected to the knuckle by means of a rigid return device which can rotate freely about the knuckle and operating by bending. The pivot point of the return device about the swivel pin of the knuckle or the swivel pin of the knuckle itself is flowing and able to move between two extreme positions respectively corresponding to the normal open position and to an additional position in which the arm is moved beyond the normal open position.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1997Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Etienne Jaffelin

Patent number: 5483302Abstract: An elastic hinge for a pair of spectacles is made, on the one hand, of a front-hinge element (10) securely fixed to a side lug (6) of the front part; and, on the other hand, of a side-hinge element (20) connected by elastic biasing means (12, 30, 40, 44) at the end of the side arm (8). The outer edge of the end (9) of the side arm (8) bears against a fixed heel (7) extending from the lug (6) or integral with the front-hinge element. This heel (7) extends beyond the axis (15) of the hinge by a distance (d) greater than 0.3 millimeters. Moreover, the side-hinge element (20) has, in its face directed towards the side arm, a recessed edge (32) which after rotation through a desired maximum angle (.theta.), comes to bear against the abutment-forming inside angled edge (5) of the heel (7).Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 1994Date of Patent: January 9, 1996Assignee: Chevassus S.A.Inventor: Etienne Jaffelin
