Abstract: A detection apparatus and material handling vehicle are operable to identify an article as being that which is situated on a platform of the material handling vehicle or is about to be situated on the platform, measures a weight of the article, and communicates to an enterprise data system a data record that includes an identification of the article and the associated weight. The article is one of a number of articles that are situated in the vicinity of the material handling vehicle.

Abstract: An apparatus and method enable a workpiece carried on a transportation device to be dimensioned. The apparatus includes a plurality of camera pairs that are situated about a detection zone, and each of the camera pairs simultaneously capture an image of the workpiece. For each camera pair, the images are subjected to a reconciliation operation to obtain a point cloud that includes a plurality of points in three dimensional space from the perspective of that camera pair. The points represent points on the surface of the workpiece or the transportation device or another surface. The point clouds are transformed into transformed points in three dimensional space from the perspective of a pre-established origin of the dimensioning apparatus. The transformed points are combined together to obtain a combined point cloud that is used to generate a characterization of the workpiece from which the dimensions of the workpiece can be obtained.

Abstract: A lift truck includes a carriage assembly that is situated on a lift mechanism of the lift truck and which includes a first support, a second support, and one or more linear motion bearings, along with a weighing apparatus. The first support is situated between the masts of the lift truck, and the linear motion bearings and weighing apparatus are likewise situated between the masts of the lift truck. The second support is the frontal plate of the lift truck which is situated directly adjacent the masts and to which the forks of the lift truck are mounted.
