Abstract: A nonwoven porous fabric is laminated to a thermoplastic film, with the film being capable of rendered microporous upon permanent elongation. The film and fabric laminate is then heated and elongated, causing the fabric and film to become thinner and to cause the film layer to become microporous.

Abstract: A surgical dressing consisting of a film which carries an adhesive layer wherein the film has a hydration rate of at least 0.1 g/in.sup.2 /min.; becomes saturated when in contact with water in 3 minutes or less and absorbs at least its own weight of water. The film comprises a polyethylene oxide and a polymer or polymers selected from an ether based polyurethane and a polyether block amide. The dressing finds special use as a IV catheter site cover.

Abstract: A disposable urinary and fecal waste containment product comprising a separate front urinary pad and a separate rear fecal pad detachably joined together is disclosed. Each of the front and rear pads comprise a liquid impermeable backing, an absorbent core and a liquid permeable facing. The rear fecal pad is preferably substantially square or rectangular and has elastic means along its lateral sides and top (waistband) edge to cause it to be gathered and to assume a bowl-like configuration.
