    Abstract: A method for improving DAS signal-to-noise ratio by means of local FK transform. The method includes: acquiring seismic wavefield data; segmenting the seismic wavefield data into a plurality of pieces of local data, wherein each piece of local data has the same dimension as the seismic wavefield data; processing each piece of local data by means of the following steps: performing FK transform to obtain an intermediate signal, removing some FK spectrum components from the intermediate signal according to scanning energy which corresponds to the intermediate signal under different apparent slowness, and performing two-dimensional inverse FFT on the intermediate signal, from which some FK spectrum components are removed; and combining all the processed local data, so as to obtain new seismic wavefield data.

    Abstract: A dissolvable magnesium alloy can be used for components of a downhole tool. The dissolvable magnesium alloy can be dissolved completely and controlled at a dissolving rate so as to be compatible with downhole operations, including hydraulic fracturing operations. The alloy includes nickel at 0.04-0.4% by weight and the balance of magnesium. The alloy is dissolvable in KCl at 2.1% by weight and 95° C. with a dissolving rate in a range of 10-100 mg/cm2/hr, yield strength in a range of 18-37 ksi, ultimate tensile strength in a range of 29-47 ksi, and elongation in a range of 8-40%.

    Abstract: Nano- and micro-particles (NMP) can be formed from an oil/water emulsion. The emulsion is made by mixing a liquid solvent, at least one surfactant, a particle-forming compound, and at least curing agent. If desired, pH control agents and viscosity enhancers can be added to the liquid solvent. The particle-forming compound and the curing agents are mixed together and form the oil phase in the emulsion and after curing, the particles are formed. The nano- and micro-particles can be used as proppant to enhance the conductivity of nano- and microfractures and fluid-loss-control additive for hydraulic fracturing operations.

    Abstract: An integrated boron removal and flocculation process for treating fracturing wastewater is disclosed. The process comprises: adjusting the pH of the fracturing flowback liquid to be treated to become alkaline and adding thereto an oxidant to carry out a reaction for a certain time period, so that the state of the boron present in the liquid is changed; and then adding a barium salt to the resulting reaction mixture to carry out a further reaction between the barium salt and the boron in the changed state to produce a precipitate. The stability of the flowback liquid is deteriorated by the addition of the oxidant. Suspended solids in the flowback liquid can be removed through adsorption, wrapping, and then settling by the action of the precipitate (a barium salt). The process integrates boron removal and flocculation and enables a boron removal rate of 80% or greater. An integrated boron removal and flocculation process for treating fracturing wastewater is disclosed.

The drilling system includes a drill bit and a sensor system with a system housing, a primary power supply and interior sensor. The primary power supply includes piezoelectric panels for converting radial vibration into energy. The interior sensor is locally powered by the primary power supply at the remote downhole location at the bottom of the borehole. The interior sensor collects data related to a downhole condition and is in communication with the primary power supply to generate confirmed data based on the amount of energy generated by the primary power supply. The confirmed data is more accurate and reliable than the data collected by the interior sensor and can be used to guide the path of the drill bit through the rock formation in drilling operations.
