Patent number: 5484853Abstract: A two-part adhesive composition having superior adhesive strength at cryogenic temperatures contains a urethane resin composition part and a hardener part. The urethane resin composition part comprises 50 to 99% by weight of a modified polyurethane prepolymer having an epoxy group at each of its respective ends and 1 to 50% by weight of a modified urethane compound having substantially no ether cyanate (NCO) groups and at least two epoxy groups per molecule and a molecular weight of less than 800 daltons. The hardener part is a polyamine containing primary or secondary amine groups. The equivalent ratio of the amine groups of the polyamine to the epoxy groups of the urethane resin composition part is 0.5 to 2.0.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1993Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: China Technical Consultants, Inc.Inventors: Der-Shyang Chen, Hung-Chung Hsia, Chen-Chi M. Patent number: 5424087Abstract: An energy efficient method of sterilizing canned food in a sterilizing kettle comprises the use of 95.degree. C. hot water, which is kept in a first reservoir, to expel the air in a sterilizing kettle containing the canned food to be sterilized and to preheat the kettle and the canned food. The 95.degree. C. hot water is cooled to become 85.degree. C. hot water, which is then drained out of the kettle to be kept in a second reservoir. Thereafter, steam is injected into the kettle to sterilize the canned food. The 85.degree. C. hot water kept in the second reservoir is then introduced into the kettle in which the 85.degree. C. hot water is converted by a heat exchange to the 95.degree. C. hot water, which is then drained and kept in the first reservoir for use again in the next sterilization cycle.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1993Date of Patent: June 13, 1995Assignee: China Technical Consultants, Inc.Inventor: Tsai-Shu Kuo

Patent number: 5306764Abstract: Amine-containing, water dispersible polyurethanes made by the following process: (1) in a reactive diluent such as acrylate, methacrylate, acrylonitrile monomer, low viscosity epoxy compound or epoxy resin, or mixture thereof, using an excess amount of polyisocyanate to react with polyol to form NCO-terminated urethane prepolymer; (2) adding hydroxy alkyl acrylate or hydroxy alkyl methacrylate monomer to react with the prepolymer in step (1) to convert its -NCO end group into alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate end group; and (3) using an excess amount of polyamine to react with the alkyl (meth)acrylate-terminated prepolymer in step (2) and the reactive diluent and the residual hydroxy-containing monomer in step (2), if any. The polyurethane can be mixed with a crosslinking agent having multi-epoxy or blocked polyisocyanate functionalities, to prepare a stable aqueous coating composition.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1992Date of Patent: April 26, 1994Assignee: China Technical Consultants Inc.Inventor: Der-Shyang Chen
