Abstract: A rubber liner having resistance to fluid diffusion is disclosed. The rubber liner is compounded from natural or synthetic rubber in combination with a thiuram compound such that the blend upon curing has a durometer hardness no greater than about 75 on the Shore D. Scale. The rubber liner may be combined with a heat-resistant rubber layer to form a rubber laminate resistant to heat and fluid diffusion. The heat-resistant rubber layer may be composed of natural or synthetic rubber in combination with a salt of a benzimidazole which resists oxidation at elevated temperature over extended time periods with a retention or increase tensile strength. The rubber laminate may also have a metal-adhesive rubber layer to secure the laminate to metal substrates of industrial production tanks, vessels, pipes, and other containers where industrial processing continually exceeds 180.degree. F.
Abstract: A rubber liner for preventing build-up of materials, such as gypsum, in handling or storage facilities, comprises, by weight, 100 parts of a rubber elastomer, 10 to 30 parts of a fluorine-containing polymer and 5 to 20 parts of a compatible oil compound. Preferably, the liner also contains from 2 to 15 parts of a compatible grease. For improved adhesion to metal surfaces such as tanks and pipes, a laminate is made utilizing said non-stick rubber liner as an outer liner, utilizing a diffusion-resistant hard rubber layer as an intermediate layer, and utilizing a soft rubber layer designed for maximum rubber-to-metal adhesion as an interior layer.
Abstract: A duo bonding layer for adhering a chlorinated polyethylene layer or coating to a rubber-lined article. The first bonding layer contains a blend of material having from 75 to 25 percent of chlorinated polyethylene by weight and from 25 to 75 percent by weight of an elastomer of natural rubber, a rubber homopolymer, or a rubber copolymer. The second bonding layer contains a blend of the same material but with the amount of chlorinated polyethylene by weight ranging from 90 to 55 percent and the amount of the elastomer ranging from 10 to 45 percent by weight. The first bonding layer is generally attached to a rubber layer such as natural rubber, which in turn is bonded directly to an article. The second bonding layer is attached to the chlorinated polyethylene layer.
