Abstract: A swing arm has a fixture at one end for mounting a hand tool, and a longitudinally-extending channel including a slot. An elongate slider member is engaged in the channel, and includes a point offset longitudinally from center of the slider member for engagement with a workpiece to define a center about which the swing arm is rotated. A fastener having a head and threaded shank is retained in a recess such that the shank extends through the slot. A threaded knob is engaged with the shank for clamping the slider member in position, and a handle connected to and captively retained with the knob is free to rotate about a handle axis.

Abstract: A blade holder has cutting edges for cutting a frustoconical tip to sharpen a crayon and also for cutting a sleeve wrapping the crayon. Outlet apertures in the blade holder allow the swarf to escape during sharpening. A serrated knife is mounted to the blade holder for circumferentially scoring the sleeve, weakening the cut strip of sleeve or breaking it up to avoid clogging of the outlet apertures. The blade holder includes a coupling by which it may be connected without tools to a mating motor-driven coupling, while ensuring proper axial alignment. A female coupling has an aperture extending between first and second mouth portions in a transverse side and longitudinal end of the first coupling respectively, and joined by a slotted mouth portion. The mating male coupling has a neck terminating in a head at an axial end of the neck. The neck being sized to pass through the slotted mouth portion, and the head being sized to pass transversely through the first mouth portion.

Abstract: A power tool having a body, a tool bit holder protruding from the tool body for holding and rotating a tool bit about an axis of rotation, and an operator for operating the bit holder. The operator includes an annular member rotationally engageable with the bit holder for manual turning to tighten and/or release the bit holder, and a mount mounting the annular member to the tool body for movement between a non-operative position, rotationally disengaged from the bit holder, and an operative position, rotationally engaged with the bit holder.

Abstract: A battery pack for a power tool includes a casing housing rechargeable cells. A receiving bay in the casing receives slide-in parts of the power tool and of a recharging stand, to retain the battery pack. A pair of primary electrical contacts is located in or adjacent the receiving bay. A recess opens into the receiving bay. A supplementary electrical contact is located within the recess, and a user-manipulable catch is also located in the recess alongside the supplementary contact. That is, a single recess houses both the supplementary contact and the mechanical catch. The supplementary contact is usable when recharging the battery to relay battery temperature information to a recharging stand, but has no function when the battery pack is attached to the power tool. The catch, useful in retaining the battery pack on the power tool, has no function with the recharging stand.

Abstract: A power hand tool includes a body and an electric motor in the body and having a shaft for driving a connector for connecting and driving a cleaning/polishing implement. An enclosure encloses the motor for protection against intrusion of a liquid, and includes a thermally conductive end cap that is exposed outside of the body. A thermal conductor in contact with a metal casing of the motor and the end cap conducts heat from the motor to the end cap for heat dissipation.

Abstract: An electric cutting tool has a body, a chuck at an end of the body for attaching a cutting implement having a rear end including a recess, and a drive mechanism for driving the chuck to slide in reciprocation for operating the cutting implement. The chuck has a gap for receiving the rear end of the implement, an internal multi-part fixing mechanism for engaging the recess of the cutting implement in the gap, and an outer cylinder having an inner cam surface for acting upon the fixing mechanism. The cylinder is manually rotatable between a locked position in which the cam surface presses the fixing mechanism tight against the recess in the gap to fix the cutting implement in place and an unlocked position in which the fixing means is released from the cutting mechanism. The fixing mechanism includes two discrete balls.
