The chronic irritation and chemical effects of these gases also promote ocular aging over the lifespan. Instantaneous pollutant effects can be reduced at the time of eye exposure by using an eyewash (collyrium) composition comprising hydroxocobalamin and/or hydroxo(aquo)cobalamin.
