Abstract: The present invention provides novel systems and methods to determine a person's ability to perceive colors across the visual light spectrum taking into account luminance of the surrounding environment, contrast of the display being used to convey the test, or both. The present invention can be used to measure individual color vision perception at specific times or over time or in populations over time to assist with the identification of clusters of color vision deficiencies, their association with agents of both genetic and non-genetic cause and thereby improve understanding of the dynamics of color vision deficiency in individuals and across populations.
