Abstract: Disclosed is a high-solid antifouling paint composition characterized by including: (A) a carboxyl group-containing copolymer that has a structural unit derived from an unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (a1) and a structural unit derived from an other unsaturated compound monomer (a2) copolymerizable with the unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (a1), and has a weight average molecular weight of 1,000 to 6,000 as measured with GPC, (B) a polyvalent metal compound capable of reacting with the carboxyl group of the carboxyl group-containing copolymer (A), and (C) an antifouling agent. The high-solid antifouling paint composition of the present invention provides an antifouling coating film that imposes less environmental burden, affects human bodies less, and has excellent antifouling performance, excellent persistence thereof and excellent mechanical strength.
Abstract: The present invention provides an antifouling coating composition, which can form an antifouling coating film capable of giving excellent slime resistance and has a property such that the recrystallization of an antifouling agent in a paint is depressed. The antifouling coating composition of the present invention is obtainable by blending a coating film forming resin (A) with as an antifouling agent, an inorganic copper antifouling agent (B) such as copper suboxide, etc and N,N?-dimethyl-N?-tolyl(N-fluorodichloromethylthio)sulfamide (C). The antifouling agent (B) is contained in an amount of preferably 60 to 1000 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the coating film forming resin (A), and the antifouling agent (C) is contained in an amount of preferably 1.4 to 80 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the coating film forming resin (A) and also the antifouling agent (C) is contained in an amount of preferably 0.
Abstract: Modified asphalts have excellent dispersibility and compatibility with polar materials, are usable in applications including railroad track-filling materials, and are inexpensive. A modified asphalt includes an asphalt (A), a viscosity depressant (B) and a copolymer (C) containing a structural unit from a polyalkylene glycol allyl ether (c1), a structural unit from an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid and/or an acid anhydride thereof (c2), and a structural unit from an aromatic vinyl compound (c3).

Abstract: The anticorrosive coating composition of the present invention is characterized by comprising (A) an epoxy resin, (B) an amine curing agent and (C) a hydroxyl group-containing coumarone resin wherein the hydroxyl group-containing coumarone resin (C) is contained in an amount of 1 to 500 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the epoxy resin (A). The hydroxyl group-containing coumarone resin (C) preferably has a hydroxyl group content in one molecule of 1 to 5% and a softening point of not higher than 200° C. The anticorrosive coating composition can form a coating film in which the plural resin components are homogeneously mixed and which are excellent in anticorrosion properties, water resistance and adhesion. Further, since the coating composition is free from tar unlike conventional anticorrosive coating compositions, it can form a clear coating film free from bleeding out of any component, and safety and hygiene problems at the time of coating operation thereof do not occur.
Abstract: A high-solids anticorrosive coating composition which comprises a main ingredient (A) comprising an epoxy resin (a1) and a hardener ingredient (B) comprising an alicyclic amine hardener (b1) and/or a Mannich type hardener (b2), the ingredient (A) and/or the ingredient (B) containing at least either of an additive (a2) selected among epoxidized reactive diluents and modified epoxy resins and a coating film modifier (ab) selected among petroleum resins, xylene resins, coumarone resins, terpene phenol resins and vinyl chloride copolymers. The high-solids anticorrosive coating composition especially of the rapidly curable type is characterized by containing a high-boiling organic solvent having a boiling point exceeding 150° C. and containing substantially no organic solvent having a boiling point of 150° C. or lower.
Abstract: A novel cyclic carboxylic acid formed by the addition reaction of an unsaturated carboxylic acid with a conjugated diene compound and a metal salt thereof are disclosed. A compounding agent (A) for an antifouling paint comprising one or more substances selected from the novel cyclic carboxylic acid, a derivative of the cyclic carboxylic acid (except a metal salt), a metal salt of the cyclic carboxylic acid and a metal salt of a derivative of the cyclic carboxylic acid, and an antifouling paint composition comprising the compounding agent (A) and a copolymer (B) for a self-polishing type antifouling paint are also disclosed. The antifouling paint composition can form an antifouling coating film which is a small burden to the environment, is uniformly eroded at a given rate, is capable of maintaining excellent antifouling performance for a long period of time and is applicable to ships or the like used in the highly fouling sea area.

Abstract: Disclosed is a tie coat which is formed on a surface of a base or an undercoating film prior to formation of an organopolysiloxane-based antifouling coating film and is formed from a moisture-curing organopolysiloxane-based composition comprising (b1) organopolysiloxane having condensing functional groups at both ends of a molecule and/or (b2) a curing composition formed by subjecting the component (b1) and an extender pigment selected from the group consisting of silica, calcium carbonate, talc, mica, clay, kaolin and barium sulfate to contact treatment with heating or without heating. Abstract: An antifouling coating composition substantially not containing cuprous oxide and organotins, characterized by comprising (A) a metal-containing copolymer obtained by copolymerization of a polymerizable unsaturated monomer (a1) containing a metal and an unsaturated monomer (a2) capable of radical polymerization containing no metals; (B) 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one; and (C) a metal pyrithione compound. There are provided an antifouling coating composition, antifouling coating film and, covered with the antifouling coating film, marine vessel, underwater structure and fishing gear or fishing net, which can reduce burdens on the environment, exhibiting excellent antifouling performance, and which excel in not only uniform wasting of coating film but also capability of maintaining antifouling performance of coating film for a prolonged period of time.

Abstract: A (poly)oxyalkylene block silyl ester copolymer comprising silyl ester copolymer block units (A) and block units (B), the block units (a) comprising (a) component units derived from a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid silyl ester, and (b) polymerizable unsaturated monomer units other than the component units (a), the block units (B) derived from particular mercapto compounds, and an antifouling paint comprising the (poly)oxyalkylene block silyl ester copolymer. The copolymer enables the formation of an antifouling coating film which exhibits less cracking tendency, excellent adherence, less peeling tendency and controlled hydrolysis rate resulting in excellent antifouling performance and properties.

Abstract: An antifouling coating composition includes (A) antifouling agent, (B) film forming copolymer of 1000 to 50,000 in number average molecular weight, and structural units derived from a trialkylsilyl ester of polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid in an amount of 20 to 65% by weight, and (C) chlorinated paraffin. The composition may also contain one or more of (D) (meth)acrylic ester polymer of 1000 to 100,000 in number average molecular weight; (E) inorganic dehydrating agent, (F) flake pigment, (G) zinc flower. In other embodiments the composition includes above components (A), (B) and (D) wherein (B):(D)=100:10 to 500. Coating films formed from the above antifouling coating compositions, such as on a hull or an underwater structure, are excellent in cracking resistance, resistance to peeling from ship bottom materials and primer layers, antifouling properties and consumability (self-polishing properties). Further, these antifouling coating compositions are excellent in storage stability.
Abstract: There are disclosed a controlling agent and an antifouling composition against harmful aquatic organisms, which include a particular N-phenylisothiazolone derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are the same or different and are independently hydrogen, chlorine or bromine; and R is haloalkoxy. Also disclosed is a method for preventing or inhibiting the adhesion of harmful aquatic organisms to water-exposed articles, which includes applying the antifouling composition to the water-exposed articles.
