Abstract: This disclosure relates to a system and method for offloading selected data to an alternate communication network. The offloading provides another route for selected packet traffic that can relieve the burden on a mobile operator's network, such as the backhaul and core networks. As the proliferation of data rich content and increasingly more capable mobile devices has continued, the amount of data communicated over mobile operator's networks has exponentially increased. Upgrading the existing network that was designed for voice calls is not desirable or practical for many mobile operators. This disclosure provides systems and methods for offloading data to the Internet or another IP network to relieve congestion on the mobile operator's network.
Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving, at a serving gateway, an uplink data packet from a UE and caching information regarding the uplink packet on a per UE basis. The method also includes receiving a downlink packet destined for the UE when the serving gateway is unaware of any bearer connection being established for sending the packet to the UE. The method further includes determining whether the downlink packet is in response to an uplink data packet recently sent by the UE prior to receiving from an MME a notification at the serving gateway that a bearer connection is established for the UE to receive the downlink packet. The method also includes buffering the downlink packet until a bearer connection is established when the downlink packet is determined to be in response to an uplink packet.
Abstract: Method and system for providing load balancing in Infiniband-to-Ethernet networks including detecting a data traffic request, determining a network interface port information associated with the detected data traffic request, and selecting a network gateway based on the network interface port information is disclosed.
Abstract: A system and method for improving reliability of a packet network are described. Data is transmitted on a first virtual circuit in the network. A message signaling a failure in receipt of the data is received on a second virtual circuit in the network. Finally, transmission of data is switched to the second virtual circuit within a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for rerouting high-speed telecommunications signals within a network element (NE). Data circuits are defined as the interface cards within the NE that receive a particular data stream. In the event that one or more of the interface cards associated with a particular data circuit is removed, the NE can reroute the data stream so that the data circuit is maintained. The rerouting is accomplished by creating a stitching table, which defines the previous stitch and next stitch for each port on a cross-connect unit. Thus, when one stitch is lost, the table enables the apparatus to reroute the data stream around the lost stitch. That is, the data circuit is stitched together when one or more elements of the data circuit are removed.

Abstract: A first and a second switching node establish a tunnel to transport a packet through a multiprotocol label-switching (MPLS) network. The tunnel is associated with a unique tunnel key. One or more virtual ciruit (VC) labels are automatically generated using the tunnel key.
