  • Patent number: 11091885
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for repairing road surfaces mix aggregate and liquified crack sealer on demand into mastic material for direct delivery to the road surfaces. Aggregate flows from a tilted box of a dump truck into a hopper and is conveyed by an auger into a tubular horizontal chamber. Liquified crack sealer is deliverable from a tank to the road surface or into the tubular horizontal chamber where it is mixed with the aggregate by a device into mastic material which is pushed through a vertical opening for delivery directly to the road surfaces. The frame which supports the hopper, conveyor, tank, and tubular horizontal chamber is movably supported on the road surfaces and is hitched to the dump truck.

  • Patent number: 8491218
Abstract: A pavement crack router includes a plurality of bits rotatably mounted to a frame in a direction. A ratchet gear is rotatable with a wheel mounted to the frame. A movable safety release is operably connected to a ratchet rod pivotable between an engaging position engaged with the ratchet gear preventing rotation of the wheel in a reverse direction and a releasing position disengaged from the ratchet gear allowing free rotation of the wheel. An elastomeric inner tube is mounted around a lower end of each of two handle bars and is slideably received in an outer tube fixed to the frame. Two elastomeric washers are mounted around the lower end of each handle bar and sandwich the inner tube within the outer tube. A switch is operable to lower the frame and bits for opening and cleaning a crack in pavement.

  • Patent number: 8210770
Abstract: A hose holder boom assembly (10) includes a first pivotal connector (128) pivotally mounting an open end (122) of a first tube (120) to a sidewall (114) of a cabinet (44) about a first pivot axis. A second pivotal connector (128) mounts an open end (132) of a second tube (130) to the other open end (124) of the first tube (120) about a second pivot axis parallel to and spaced from the first pivot axis. Movement of the first tube (120) relative to the sidewall (114) and relative movement between the first and second tubes (120, 130) are limited to a pivot plane extending perpendicular to the first and second pivot axes and including the first and second tubes (120, 130). The open end (132) of the second tube (130) is pivotable at an obtuse angle to each of two sides of the other open end (124) of the first tube (120). A hose (74) for outputting paving material extends out of the cabinet (44) and through the first and second tubes (120, 130) and the first and second pivotal connectors (128).

  • Patent number: 6470874
Abstract: A concrete saw (10) includes a cutting assembly having a high compression diesel motor (38) mounted on a carriage (40) in turn slideably mounted in a frame (22) in turn pivotally mounted to parallel rails (14) of a chassis (12) moveably supported on the concrete surface by wheels (18, 20). Concrete slurry hardened on two pairs of UHMW slides (30, 44) provided between the sliding surfaces of the carriage (40) and the frame (22) will break away and fall from the slides (30, 44) when the belt tension is adjusted. A guard (58) prevents entry of concrete slurry to the belt drive and includes a housing (66) having a U-shaped wall (68) which closely conforms to the bottom periphery of the sheave (36) of the belt drive.

  • Patent number: 6109826
Abstract: A melter and applicator (10) is shown for applying liquefied paving material to damaged pavement. The applicator (10) reduces the problems which occur due to the unintentional solidification of the paving material within the hose (74) of either the heated or unheated type. A cabinet (44) is provided which is selectively able to maintain the temperature of the unheated hose (74) during periods of non-use. In addition, a wand access port (100) is provided which allows either type of hose (74) to be run continuously, directing material back to a supply bin (26). In addition, a chimney (40) is provided which vents the by-products of combustion generated while melting the paving material. This chimney, (40) is fluidly coupled to the bin (26) which contains the paving material so that noxious fumes produced during the melting are drawn off.

  • Patent number: 5709200
Abstract: A router machine for cutting a groove in pavement and the like for repairing cracks includes a pair of frame members mounting a shroud therebetween. A cutter head drive shaft is mounted by the frame members with axially spaced bushings keyed thereto within the shroud. Disks are bolted to the bushings. Circumferentially spaced cutter members are mounted to the disks, and include pins axially removably extended through apertures. Star bits and spacers are mounted on the pins. Retainers are pivotally mounted to the disks to selectively permit axial removable of the pins from the disks. A U-shaped mounting axle is pivoted to the frame members forwardly of the shroud for mounting ground engaging wheels. An operator guide handle is pivotally mounted to a console and operatively connected to brake members mounted by a brake axle to brakingly engage the ground engaging wheels when the handle cross bar is pushed downwardly.

  • Patent number: 5215071
Abstract: A riding saw apparatus (20) has hydrostatic and hydraulic controls (26, 30, 31, 32) which are movable to various positions for different sawing operations. In addition, saw blades (72) mounted on a cutting assembly (24, 25) are movable to different positions at different angles for performing a number of sawing operations including sawing joints, making angled cuts, and following random cracks or curves. In addition, a timing mechanism (82) may be added so that the saw (20) may utilized for sawing recesses (110) in the pavement. The timing - mechanism (82) uses a cam (84) with a cam follower (86) controlling the depth of the cut of the blades (72). The saw also utilizes a mounting bracket (80) for mounting front wheels (38) or the cutting assemblies (24, 25) in different positions for the various sawing operations.

  • Patent number: 4676557
Abstract: A cooling system for a wheeled saw for widening cracks in an asphalt or concrete surface is disclosed. The cooling system includes a compressor and a water reservoir which provide pressurized air and water to one or more mist forming nozzles or fluid directing blocks. The mist is directed unto the cutting blade to keep it cool. After enlarging a crack, foreign materials are blown from the crack allowing it to be immediately sealed.
