  • Patent number: 5596380
Abstract: A digital sound signal reading means 20 is provided in association with a sound drum 13 on which an image film 1 delivered from a cinema film supply unit 50 circumferentially travels to carry out reading and reproduction of digital sound signals recorded in a digital sound signal recording portion 5 of the image film 1. An image film traveling adjustment unit 30 is disposed at least at the position of the preceding stage of the image film traveling path. The image film traveling adjustment unit 30 applies traveling load in dependency upon traveling state of the image film 1 to allow the image film 1 to travel up to the digital sound signal reading means 2 in a stable state thus to allow it to carry out reading and reproduction of digital sound signals.

  • Patent number: 5543868
Abstract: A method and apparatus for optically reading or reproducing digital information recorded as a plurality of pits on at least one track of a movie film. A linear light source having a plurality of light elements, such as LED's, is arranged such that light from at least one of the light elements is irradiated on each of the pits. The light or optical beam from the linear light source is transmitted through the pits of the movie film and received by a light receiving element, such as a photodiode, having a single light receiving portion. The light elements of the linear light source are lit sequentially so that the digital information recorded in each line of each track may be read out at a pit unit by the light receiving element.

  • Patent number: 5508761
Abstract: A motion picture film is provided on which a digital sound track for audio data is formed along the film running direction. Data tracks are disposed in the digital sound track along a direction normal to the film running direction and extend in the film running direction. A data pattern having a block of audio data is recorded in the data tracks, along with tracking patterns representing each data track. Each of the tracking patterns is recorded at one side of the data track along the film running direction with an offset in the film running direction of one half the width of a data track from the center of that data track.

  • Patent number: 4587572
Abstract: A film to tape transfer system is disclosed for use with film of the type including a transparent magnetic layer on the back of the film. The coated film negative and a fullcoat, oxide coated, sprocketed sound track are fed to a tele-cine camera which inputs a VCR to produce a videotape record of the film. An SMPTE time code generator is built into the system to simultaneously write a time code on the picture track, the sound track and on the videotape. A keyboard is included to enable the operator to enter all pertinent information such as production number, camera number, director, cameraman, etc. as the films are being run.
