  • Patent number: 7318426
Abstract: A fuel-control manifold has a non-integral body with at least three pieces joined together. The fuel-control manifold has a tank port, an engine supply port, a fueling port, and a shutoff valve, all in the upper body segment. The shutoff valve includes a controllable shutoff valve closure having a shutoff-valve first side in fluid flow communication with the tank port and a shutoff-valve second side in fluid flow communication with the engine supply port and with the fueling port. There are a defueling port in a lower body segment, a vent port in the upper body segment, and a defuel/vent valve in a middle body segment.

  • Publication number: 20060225794
Abstract: A vent and relief valve having a valve body that is in fluid communication with the interior of a tank containing a fluid. A vent valve and relief valve are positioned within the valve body. The vent valve is capable of being configured into an open position to vent fluid from the interior of the tank. The relief valve is capable of being configured into an open position to relieve pressure within a tank. The relief valve is also capable of engaging the vent valve to form a seal to substantially prevent fluid from flowing from the tank. The valve body also includes a valve seat having a first surface that releasably engages the vent valve when the vent valve is in a closed position and a second surface that releasably engages the relief valve when the relief valve is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6953048
Abstract: A fluid-flow system includes a first plurality of substantially identical plate-like blocks. Each block has at least two fluid-flow through-passages extending between its front face and its back face. The blocks are connected to each other along their edge surfaces. A fluid component is affixed to the front face of each of the blocks, with its ports aligned and in fluid communication with the respective fluid-flow through-passages of the block to which it is affixed. A second plurality of fluid-flow block-interconnection tubes external to the blocks are affixed to the back face of a first block and to the back face of a second block. A first end of the fluid-flow block-interconnection tube is in fluid communication with one of the fluid-flow through-passages on the first block, and a second end of the fluid-flow block-interconnection tube is in fluid communication with one of the fluid-flow through-passages on the second block.

  • Patent number: 6439334
Abstract: A gaseous alternative fuels vehicle has a vehicle body with an engine and a gas fuel tank. A gaseous fuel supply system establishes gas communication between the engine and the gas fuel tank. The gaseous fuel supply system includes a valve having a valve body with a housing having a first unvalved port and a second unvalved port. A through-flow channel extends between the first unvalved port and the second unvalved port. The through-flow channel provides continuous gaseous communication between the first unvalved port and the second unvalved port. A valved port is in gaseous communication with the gas fuel tank, and a valving channel extends between the valved port and the through-flow channel. The valving channel provides valved gaseous communication between the valved port and the through-flow channel. A flow controller has a valve element within the valving channel at a valve location.

  • Patent number: 5743285
Abstract: A thermal relief valve for a gas cylinder has a body with an inner wall defining a passageway for flow of fluid between inlet and outlet. A piston within the bore moves between a first position arresting flow from inlet to outlet, and a second position permitting flow from inlet to outlet. A restricting assembly for arresting movement of the piston towards the second position includes a thermal sensitive element of suitable eutectic material at the bore inner wall, with protrusions defining a first camming surface, and two or more restricting elements defining a second camming surface positioned to engage the first camming surface.

  • Patent number: 5181977
Abstract: A tire fill valve having pressure relief and tire fill fluid gas flow limiting characteristics for use in filling tires to a predetermined pressure form a large flow capacity gas source delivering fill gas at a substantially greater pressure. Gases utilized typically are air or nitrogen. The valve of the invention is wheel mounted intermediate the gas pressurizing source and the tire gas valve inlet. Tire fill gas from a high pressure high capacity source passes through a flow limiting orifice having a positive closure or shutoff member and passes through a pressure sensitive chamber as it enters the tire. Chamber pressure is sensed by a spring loaded valve disk controlling relief or venting orifices. When fill pressure in the pressure sensing chamber exceeds a pre-determined value established by the valve disk area and valve disk springs, the disk lifts allowing the venting of the fill gas.

  • Patent number: 5123442
Abstract: A regulating shut off valve for a high pressure gas bottle useful when the pressure within the bottle can be higher than the maximum safe working pressure of a pneumatic system connected thereto. The valve is sized to fit under a standard protective cap when installed on a gas bottle. The valve includes a poppet assembly with a needle that acts with a valve seat so that the poppet assembly can be screwed open to allow gas to pass from the bottle to the system or screwed closed against the seat. The valve seat, which is operatively connected to a spring loaded piston to which system pressure is applied, is responsive to the maximum safe working pressure of the system. When such pressure is present, the valve seat moves against the needle to regulate flow.
