    Abstract: A Data Center Ethernet (“DCE”) network and related methods and device are provided. A DCE network simplifies the connectivity of data centers and provides a high bandwidth, low latency network for carrying Ethernet, storage and other traffic. A Fibre Channel (“FC”) frame, including FC addressing information, is encapsulated in an Ethernet frame for transmission on a Data Center Ethernet (“DCE”) network. The Ethernet address fields may indicate that the frame includes an FC frame, e.g., by the use of a predetermined Organization Unique Identifier (“OUI”) code in the D_MAC field, but also include Ethernet addressing information. Accordingly, the encapsulated frames can be forwarded properly by switches in the DCE network whether or not these switches are configured for operation according to the FC protocol. Accordingly, only a subset of Ethernet switches in the DCE network needs to be FC-enabled. Only switches so configured will require an FC Domain_ID.

    Abstract: A method is provided that includes receiving a request from a communication device to establish a communication session with a mobile station, the mobile station being operable to roam between a private and a public network. The mobile station is signaled via a cellular data network that a call is being initiated for the mobile station. Signaling information may be exchanged with a voice gateway such that one or more voice circuits are established. A signaling pathway may be established between an Internet protocol private branch exchange (IP PBX) and the mobile station via the cellular data network. The establishment of the signaling pathway is substantially concurrent with the establishment of one or more of the voice circuits. One or more features associated with a private network are delivered to the mobile station during the communication session as an end user moves between the public and private networks.

Incoming voice calls of any media type (TDM voice/fax, VoIP, VoATM, VoFR) are packetized and adapted for egress transmission of the same or another media type according to the service plan profile of the parties, and/or the instantaneous availability or cost of bandwidth resources. All calls are switched in an ATM switching core with QoS characteristics that can also be determined based on service plan profile. A call server handles call setup and management functions, as well as call signaling. Advantageously, the call server provides signaling relay functions to further support and enable the media conversion of voice calls.

Resources of like type can be pooled into resource groups and customers can then be sold a base amount of a resource, to be taken from the appropriate resource group, that the customer can then provide to users or callers. The server of the resources utilizes the telephone number of the party called and call type in order to identify the resource that is requested. If the base amount of the requested resource has already been allocated, an overflow amount can be utilized to provide additional resources of a like type, if they are available. Thus, the resources can be efficiently managed to allow a high utilization of the available resources.

    Abstract: A method for protecting firewall load balancers from a denial of service attack is provided. Packets are received by the firewall load balancer. Each packet has a source and a destination. The firewall load balancer is equipped with a connection database that can contain entries about the packets. Upon receipt of a packet, the connection database is queried to determine whether or not there is an entry for the received packet. If an entry is found in the database, the packet is forwarded to its destination. Otherwise, if the packet was received from a firewall, then a new connection entry for the packet is built and is saved to the connection database and the packet is forwarded on to its destination. If the packet does not have an entry (match) in the connection database and the packet was not received from a firewall, then the packet is forwarded to a firewall.
