    Abstract: A method for operating a distributed key-value store includes processing a data set comprised of data records each associated with a unique identifier and having one or more values associated with one or more attributes using a private key provided at a client device, thereby partitioning each of the data records based on the identifier and forming a plurality of encrypted identifier-value pairs for distributed storage across a plurality of server nodes operably connectable to the client device. The method also includes building, at the client device, encrypted indexes based on the type of query; and executing a query protocol in response to receiving a query from the client device so as to identify, using the built encrypted indexes, data distributively stored in the server nodes which matches the query. The invention also provides a related system for operating a distributed key-value store.

    Abstract: Systems and methods which provide flexible zinc ion (Zn-ion) battery configurations with shape memory are described. For example, embodiments of flexible shape memory yarn batteries (SMYBs) may be fabricated using shape memory material wire, filament, and/or fiber and flexible conductive material yarn as flexible substrate materials. In accordance with some embodiments, Nickel-Titanium-based alloy wire may be coated with a zinc material to provide a flexible anode electrode for a SMYB. Additionally or alternatively, flexible stainless steel (SS) yarn may be coated with a manganese dioxide (MnO2) material to provide a flexible cathode electrode for a SMYB of embodiments. An aqueous electrolyte may be combined with the flexible cathode and anode electrodes to provide a SMYB in accordance with the concepts herein. The aqueous electrolyte may, for example, comprise a polymer gel electrolyte (e.g., gelatin-borax polymer gel electrolyte).

Further provided is a method of inhibiting the growth of tumor cells by contacting the cells with a platinum(IV) complex of the present invention and a pharmaceutical composition comprising a platinum(IV) complex of the present invention. The platinum(IV) complexes of the present invention represent a novel class of platinum anticancer prodrugs for the treatment of diseases especially of cancer. The platinum(IV) complexes of the present invention exhibit advantageously high cytotoxic activity in various cancer types superior to commonly used platinum-based complexes. In addition, the complexes proved to be highly effective even against cisplatin-resistant cancers.

    Abstract: Coordinate descent is applied to recover a signal-of-interest from only magnitude information. In doing so, a single unknown value is solved at each iteration, while all other variables are held constant. As a result, only minimization of a univariate quartic polynomial is required, which is efficiently achieved by finding the closed-form roots of a cubic polynomial. Cyclic, randomized, and/or a greedy coordinate descent technique can be used. Each coordinate descent technique globally converges to a stationary point of the nonconvex problem, and specifically, the randomized coordinate descent technique locally converges to the global minimum and attains exact recovery of the signal-of-interest at a geometric rate with high probability when the sample size is sufficiently large. The cyclic and randomized coordinate descent techniques can also be modified via minimization of the l1-regularized quartic polynomial for phase retrieval of sparse signals-of-interest, i.e.

    Abstract: Systems and methods which provide oscillator configurations implementing phase rotation (rotated-phase-tuning (RPT)) are described. Embodiments of a RPT oscillator may employ phase interpolation, whereby two current vectors having different phases are superimposed to provide a resultant current vector having a tunable phase to vary a phase shift in a feedback loop of an oscillator circuit and correspondingly tune the oscillation frequency. Phase rotation provided by an RPT oscillator configuration of embodiments inserts a negative phase shift (rotation phase shift) into each of two current branches to rotate the phase shifts of a phase-tuning technique, such as for avoiding phase ambiguity with respect to tunable oscillation frequencies.
