Abstract: An energy storage device and a method of fabricating such energy storage device. The energy storage device includes a first electrode, a second electrode, and an electrolyte. The combination of the electrodes and the electrolyte is arranged to elastically deform when subjected to an external mechanical load applied to the energy storage device. Abstract: A system and method for determining a layout of a wireless communication network in a terrain. The wireless communication network includes multiple wireless communication devices each arranged to communicate wirelessly with one or more external communication devices. The method includes obtaining a modelled terrain of the terrain in which the wireless communication devices of the wireless communication network can be arranged. The modelled terrain includes a first type of area in which external communication devices can be located, and a second type of area representing obstacles arranged to affect communication between the wireless communication devices and the external communication device. The method also includes determining, based on a criteria, respective installation locations of the wireless communication devices in the modelled terrain so as to determine a layout of the wireless communication network in the terrain.
Abstract: A parallel-plate antenna or antenna array suitable for operation at millimeter wave frequencies. The antenna includes an antenna element having a ground plane with a slot and a pair of parallel plates connected to the ground plane. The parallel plates extend generally perpendicularly from the ground plane. In plan view, the slot is arranged between the parallel plates. The antenna also includes a feed operably coupled with the slot for feeding the slot during operation so as to generate a circularly polarized signal for radiation.

Abstract: System and method for determining gain characteristics of a linearly-polarized antenna. The method includes receiving a measured first amplitude of a forward gain between a circularly-polarized antenna probe and a linearly-polarized standard-gain antenna, a measured second amplitude of a forward gain between the circularly-polarized antenna probe and a linearly-polarized antenna under test, a measured third amplitude of a forward gain between a linearly-polarized antenna probe and the linearly-polarized standard-gain antenna, and a measured fourth amplitude of a forward gain between the linearly-polarized antenna probe and the linearly-polarized antenna under test. The method also includes determining a co-polarization gain and a cross-polarization gain of the linearly-polarized antenna under test based on the measured first amplitude, the measured second amplitude, the measured third amplitude, and the measured fourth amplitude. The determination may be performed using one or more processors.
