Abstract: Systems and methods which provide a hollow dielectric block dual-fed dual-frequency antenna configuration, such as may be utilized for wireless device communication in multiple RF bands, multi-frequency radar applications, etc., are described. Embodiments of a hollow dielectric block dual-fed dual-frequency antenna provide operation with respect to widely separated frequencies, such as to operate at frequencies in both a millimeter-wave band and a microwave band. A hollow dielectric block dual-fed dual-frequency antenna of embodiments of the invention may be fabricated from a single hollow dielectric block configured to integrate a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) and a Fabry-Perot resonator antenna (FPRA), wherein the hollow dielectric block may be configured to serve as the resonator for the DRA and the superstrate for the FPRA simultaneously. The resonant frequencies of the DRA and FPRA of a hollow dielectric block dual-fed dual-frequency antenna of embodiments can be determined independently.
Abstract: Systems and methods which provide low-loss dielectric microstrip line (DML) circuits for use with respect to signals in the terahertz frequency range are described. Low-loss DML integrated circuits of embodiments, such as may comprise DML transmission lines, DML couplers, DML crossovers, etc., may be based on silicon technology and are adapted for signal frequencies in the range of 750-925 GHz. A DML circuit implementation may be comprised of silicon on insulator based DML structure having a silicon dioxide (SiO2) insulation layer as the middle layer of the DML, wherein the device layer (HR—Si) and the handle layer (HR—Si) are the top and bottom layers of the DML. A high-precision fabrication process for the SOI wafer, wherein the height of the dielectric microstrip lines can be accurately controlled, may be utilized to fabricate DML circuits of embodiments. A non-contact measurement technology may be used to test the DML circuits of embodiments.
Abstract: A method for isomerizing a double bond is provided. A substrate is exposed to an isomerase enzyme, wherein the isomerase enzyme comprises a redox-regulated ligand switch and heme b cofactor. A reducing agent changes iron (III) to iron (II). The enzyme isomerizes double bonds in the iron (II) state but not in the iron (III) state. In one embodiment, the enzyme is homologous with 15-cis-?-carotene isomerase (Z-ISO).

Abstract: An electron gun and an apparatus incorporating the electron gun. The electron gun includes an electron emission element, an electrode, a control element, and a control circuit. The electron emission element is arranged to be activated to emit electron beam. The electrode is arranged to be electrically connected with a power supply to accelerate the emitted electron beam. The control element may be arranged between the electron emission element and the electrode. The control element is arranged to be electrically connected with the power supply to provide an electric field to control emission of electron beams from the electron emission element. Abstract: A display system that produces an image that encodes both machine-readable and human-readable data is described. The image has two underlying patterns that are changed at two different rates. The rapidly changing image encodes the machine-readable data and the slower changing image encodes the human-readable data.

Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of how to provide a predictive marker useful for carcinogenesis surveillance after hepatitis C virus eradication. Abstract: A cancer invasiveness diagnosis system includes an endoscope; a microtomography probe which is introduced into a body cavity together with the endoscope, the microtomography probe emitting a low-coherence light on a target tissue in which a target tumor is present to obtain an optical interference signal; a determination portion which is configured to obtain a tomography image of the target tissue including the target tumor and a blood flow velocity information in a blood vessel in the tomography image based on the optical interference signal, wherein the determination portion is configured to determine the cancer invasiveness of the target tumor based on the tomography image and the blood flow velocity information.

Abstract: A method for controlling operation of an autonomous vehicle includes: comparing, at a remote computing system operably connected with a processor in the autonomous vehicle, a first signal indicative of an environment in which the autonomous vehicle is arranged and a second signal indicative of the environment in which the autonomous vehicle is arranged; and generating a restriction command to restrict operation of the autonomous vehicle if the comparison indicates that the first signal and the second signal do not correspond. The first signal is determined by the processor in the autonomous vehicle and the second signal is determined by the remote computing system.
Abstract: A platinum complex includes a structure of Formula (I). A method for treating a subject suffering from cancer includes a step of administering an effective amount of the platinum complex to the subject. A method for inhibiting the growth of cancer cells includes the step of contacting a population of cancer cells with an effective amount of the platinum complex. The platinum complexes are particularly suitable for treatment of cancer through, in particular, photodynamic therapy.
Abstract: The method and system of the present invention provides Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH)-based Adaptive Rich Media Delivery Solution (DASH-ARM) which performs adaptive delivery of mulsemedia content by improving the perceived QoE levels which improves user's sense of reality. In its dynamic adjustment of multiple sensorial content characteristics, DASH-ARM performs a trade-off between video quality and presence of diverse other sensorial components which include components such as haptic, olfaction and wind. This trade-off relies on the fact that the presence of other sensorial components has a masking effect on potential audio/video quality variations. DASH-ARM is complemented by an adaptive multi-sensory media stream (mulsemedia) which synchronizes at the user device, where the multimedia content and mulsemedia comprises diverse sensorial stimuli.

Abstract: [Object] To provide a decorative aqueous composition that includes particles formed from opal-type colloidal crystals uniformly and stably dispersed in an aqueous dispersion medium, and exhibits a structural color due to interference of light, and to provide a method for producing the decorative aqueous composition. [Solution] The decorative aqueous composition of the present invention contains particles of opal-type colloidal crystals dispersed in an aqueous dispersion medium in which a polymer is dissolved. The particles of the opal-type colloidal crystals are made from hydrophilic colloidal particles having an average particle diameter ranging from 10 nm to 1000 nm with a variation coefficient of the particle diameter being within 20%. Therefore, the decorative aqueous composition of the present invention contains opal-type colloidal crystals uniformly and stably dispersed in an aqueous dispersion medium, and exhibits a structural color due to interference of light.
