Patent number: 4459270Abstract: A process for the removal of hydrogen from a gas which also contains oxygen, which process comprises contacting the said gas at ambient temperature with a catalyst comprising a carrier of tin oxide and alumina impregnated with from 0.25 to 2.5% by weight of platinum and from 0.25 to 2.5% by weight of palladium.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1983Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Assignees: CJB Developments Limited, Universal Matthey Products LimitedInventors: Colin J. Leppard, Andrew Holt

Patent number: 4183734Abstract: A method of transferring heat from a low temperature reservoir to a high temperature reservoir in which a two bed adsorption system is used. An adsorbable component is desorbed from a first bed of a reversible adsorbent previously saturated with the adsorbable component and the heat required is transferred to the bed from a low temperature reservoir in heat-exchange relationship with the bed of adsorbent. The adsorbable component is then adsorbed on a second bed of a reversible adsorbent and the heat released is transferred to a high temperature reservoir in heat-exchange relationship with the bed. In order for the system to operate continuously the mode of operation of the first and second bed of reversible adsorbent must be periodically reversed.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1978Date of Patent: January 15, 1980Assignee: CJB Developments LimitedInventors: Colin J. Leppard, Robert S. E. Leslie

Patent number: 4035278Abstract: A process for the electrodeposition of metal onto the particles of a fluidised bed cathode is of particular use in the electro-winning of metals. Agglomeration of particles is substantially avoided by the elimination of sharp corners within the portion of the cell where there is electrodeposition and by the removal of particles from the fluidised bed cathode before they reach a size where they tend to lodge adjacent structural surfaces within the cathode compartment. Flow of electrolyte into the base of the cathode compartment may conveniently be distributed by a porous plate or a "V" shaped trough.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1976Date of Patent: July 12, 1977Assignee: CJB Developments LimitedInventors: John Arthur Elton Wilkinson, Robert Semple Everett Leslie, David Michael Glindon, Kendrick Peter Haines, Keith Baker

Patent number: 3981698Abstract: A process for the removal of carbon dioxide from a wet gas stream comprises passing the gas stream through an integrated absorption bed which comprises a first portion which is an absorbent for water whereby water is removed from the gas stream, a second portion which is an absorbent for carbon dioxide whereby carbon dioxide is removed from the gas stream and a third portion which is an absorbent for water which is saturated with water whereby water is reintroduced into the gas stream. The process may be operated continuously by employing two integrated absorption beds, one of which is absorbing carbon dioxide while the other is desorbing carbon dioxide. The process may be used for the treatment of air from an enclosed atmosphere such as an apple store.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1975Date of Patent: September 21, 1976Assignee: CJB Development LimitedInventor: Colin James Leppard
