Abstract: p-phenylenediamines having a quaternary ammonium group and substituted with an electron withdrawing group, derivatives thereof, compositions containing same, and their use as developers for dyeing keratinous fibers, are disclosed.
Abstract: Direct dyes having a quaternary center with a long aliphatic chain, compositions containing those dyes, and the process of using them to dye hair are disclosed. These dyes have a higher affinity for hair and are more shampoo stable than conventional direct dyes, and produce pleasing uniform dyeing.
Abstract: Hair conditioning compositions containing a perfluoropolyether and an amino functional silicone, in accordance with the invention, afford prolonged conditioning effect i.e. reduction in flyaway and interfiber friction, which effect lasts through multiple shampooings.
Abstract: P-phenylenediamines having a quaternary ammonium group and substituted with an electron withdrawing group, derivatives thereof, compositions containing same, and their use as developers for dyeing keratinous fibers, are disclosed.
Abstract: Novel benzoxazine compounds of the structure ##STR1## wherein X and Y are independently selected from the group hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, aminoalkyl, hydroxyalkyl and hydroxyaminoalkyl, each alkyl moiety having 1 to 6 carbons, and m=1, 2, or 3, have been found suitable as hair dyes.
Abstract: Certain dispersant free substituted diaminoanthaquinone colorants are useful in hair dye compositions to more intensely color hair. Coloring kits, mousses, gels, and aerosols may contain the compositions.

Abstract: 4-nitroso anilines and cosmetically acceptable salts thereof are employed as direct dyes. Compositions for dyeing keratin fibers and containing said 4-nitroso anilines and an alkalizing agent are also disclosed.
Abstract: Hair on a live head is treated with metal ion in a pretreatment step then subjected to an oxidative or autooxidative dyeing step in which scalp staining occurs. Between the pretreatment step and the dyeing step the scalp of the live head is subjected to vigorous massage, rubbing, combing or brushing for a time sufficient to reduce scalp staining, or sufficient time is permitted to elapse between the pretreatment step of the dyeing step to reduce scalp staining, or a combination of these two procedures is employed.
Abstract: An aromatic amine, or a cosmetically acceptable salt thereof, is reacted with an aromatic aldehyde in a reaction medium containing water. 2,6-dihydroxypyridine, or a cosmetically acceptable salt thereof, is reacted with hydrogen peroxide in a reaction medium containing water. The two reaction mediums are combined so that both reactions are carried out together on hair. Preferably, the two reactions are carried out together in the same reaction medium. pH is adjusted so that the pH of the common reaction medium is about 5 to 7. Surprisingly, substantially no cross reaction occurs between the two reactions on hair.
Abstract: A two part oxidation dyeing method for human hair is provided together with a composition therefor in which both parts are relatively fluid until mixed, after which the combination becomes viscous and can be applied to hair.
Abstract: An electrically heated, hand-held portable facial sauna appliance has a top air inlet, side air inlet, an air flow adjustment arrangement and a fan to mix ambient air with steam generated from a quantity of water contained in an internal steam generating chamber having an associated electric heater and a bottom fill opening such that the appliance must be inverted to fill the chamber with water. A water trap and overflow arrangement in the container ensures that the chamber cannot be overfilled and enables the appliance to be overturned during use without leaking. The appliance is provided with attachments in the form of a facial mask, concentrator tube, brush and sponge, each designed to fit over a steam-air mixture outlet and control the quantity of air entering through the top air inlet.
